  1. Prismatic Vinyl

Out of curiosity, is this company coming to you because they'd prefer giving you the business versus whoever used to do it, or are they coming to you because they can't get the product from their previous supplier? I say that only because I've had to help customers re-standardize their graphics...
  2. Pricing Table Top Vinyl Wrap

I agree on there being too many variables. If I was setting up sq.ft. pricing, I'd probably look at range pricing - e.g. "From $10 / sq.ft." - that way, you don't find yourself in a pickle. I love having standardized pricing - this makes it easy for me and the customer. But this is more of a...
  3. I need advice with laminating

It sounds to me like you didn't have the right pressure setting. Either that or you're rollers are warped.
  4. Equipment Leases

This model works as well as nothing goes wrong. The classic case is leasing a car. As long as there are no major problems with the car and you don't get in a wreck, you can take your cash on hand and theoretically make money off it, even if it's just in a low-interest savings account. But if...
  5. How to remove graffiti from vinyl print?

I'm not aware of any way to remove graffiti from normal laminates. There are specialty laminates that claim to be graffiti-resistant, but I've never used them. The only thing I know of to do is reprint. But I wouldn't do it for free since we can't control damage by 3rd parties to the signs. If...
  6. Had my apprentice helping last night

That's awesome. Keep up the good work with your business and at home.
  7. Vehicle Decals: printed or solid color vinyl

I'd say if you can match the colors with cut vinyl, use that on the text areas. I would print/laminate the logo for ease on the install side. If they're worried about sections fading faster than others - that's likely to happen anyway. Between my personal experience and studying signs around...
  8. Eliminating static on laminator

So you just use 1 dryer sheet at a time? Or do you have to use more? How often do you replace them? Could I laminated 100-150 feet with one setup?
  9. signs365 business card printing

My point was that I know what I'm doing with business cards. Therefore the company printing them should not mess with my artwork, unless they consult me first and I approve any changes. If I didn't know what I was doing, I would be using vistaprint, like all the people outside the print...
  10. Opinion on Static Elimination Thing...

The dryer sheets don't work when you're laminating 100 ft of prints. But on substrate they can.
  11. Sign Business as SIDE HUSTLE...

You've contradicted yourself here, unless I'm misunderstanding what "plenty" is. If you have regular side work, you have an income. Just maybe not a steady paycheck. I understand if you're concerned about not having enough income to make the jump from a steady job to an irregular one. But...
  12. Laminating solid colors?

Exactly. If companies guaranteed or warranted the expected life span, they wouldn't generally make money. The purpose of the guarantee/warranty is to help ensure quality control, and compensate customers for defective product.
  13. What makes your shop FUN?

One time I put this on the back of the bathroom door. Boss' name is Phil, so I didn't have to photoshop it at all. It was amazing how long it took anyone to notice it...or comment on it.
  14. Eliminating static on laminator

Since the weather has become hot and dry, I've been having tons of issues with static build up on my laminator, especially when running Avery's cast wrap laminate with the plastic liner. Our shop doesn't have any carpet, so that's not an issue. I've found the static string online, but not sure...
  15. Opinion on Static Elimination Thing...

I just recently started looking at these, because it's now hot and dry in our area, so lots of static. Combine that with Avery's plastic liner on the laminate, and OUCH! After looking around, why not just buy the anti-static cord for $66, plus some magnets for $3-5 at a home improvement store...
  16. signs365 business card printing

As someone competent in setting up files with bleeds, I find this to be a big problem that they're messing with your artwork. If I didn't know what I was doing, I'd use vistaprint. Another company messing with my artwork spells out major quality control issues on my end.
  17. Corebridge

I've used CASper in the past, and it really is a complicated interface with a high learning curve. We also frequently had issues connecting to the database, and we'd have to waste an hour calling into customer service for them to hit the reset button.
  18. Oraguard 210 = UV burn

Why would a dry or wet install have any effect on this? I don't see the connection.
  19. sign waver

I'd recommend using the 10mm coro. It's more expensive, but the wind alone will fold the 4mm in half the first time they use it.
  20. Where to buy Glitter Vinyl?

I've only used it once or twice, but it sounds like ultra-metallic vinyl is what you're looking for. We got it from Fellers, but that was years ago. I don't even remember which brand we used.
