Now, where did you find the lmgtfy.com? I need something just like it, and don't know where to get it. :Big Laugh
  2. car wrap print layout

No just wrap over the light. That'll make a nice disco scene on the roadway at night with the background you selected.
  3. Shutting down a sign shop, thoughts and lessons learned.

I would think in this scenario - selling to family - that you possibly could have arranged a transition period where the existing customers got to know you and were used to working with you. When my boss was transferring the management role over to me, he would start a conversation with the...
  4. car wrap print layout

I don't think my customers would be happy with that many seams in the graphics. We get enough comments on trailer wraps about the seams using our 54" printer.
  5. car wrap print layout

The best way is to have a single panel run the length of the entire vehicle. If you have 2+ people installing it, you align the panel once, remove the entire backing paper and install. Takes more caution on the setup side, but install goes faster. This does require an interior bay, which I've...
  6. What all do you remove on trailer door when wrapping it?

It depends a bit on how much they're willing to pay. For our discount customers, we'll leave hardware on and wrap as far behind it as we can do. But if they're willing to pay for premium service, we remove the hardware - or as much as necessary - to achieve the best quality full wrap. So, are...
  7. Temporary Window Signage

What's the problem with the 2ft x 2ft size? Is it just the installation that's the problem? We did graphics for a comic con several years in a row. One was a massive, multi-panel section graphic for the main entrance. One year we tried static cling to see if install would be easier. It held up...
  8. 8'x8' Rigid Sign Display Stand

Another option is to buy some modular shelving units. Similar concept to the truss system, possibly cheaper (don't know for sure), and you keep it. All you have to do is set up the framework and add weight to the bottom shelf for stability.
  9. Roll to Roll Becoming Loose

Are there any stated limitations to what the takeup roll will handle? I know, for example, I can only run about 10-12 feet for a print-laminate-cut job and it be accurate on the cut lines. Could this simply be part of the normal operation of the machine? This doesn't specifically address your...
  10. Signs 365 fail!

I can understand them not giving a warranty on the banner once it's installed, since there are so many different factors that could cause a failure that are outside of their control. But I would expect any company to admit when they make trash, and to make it up either financially or by redoing...

  12. Print - Lam - Cut problem

Not to my understanding. If you look at your manual under the "Part of Practice" section (pp. 126-131 in mine), you'll find some details on the printing & cutting separately. If you watch the machine, it moves over the dot, does a 2 axis check for position, moves to the rectangle, does 2 axis...
  13. Print - Lam - Cut problem

Glad you got it working. I'm still not sure why that printed area would make a difference. It scans the circle and the rectangle for registration. The "V" near the print is just for a manual alignment. But if covering up the print works, great!
  14. I've got the blues... the wrong blues

I've always had a Roland, but spend a lot of time on color matching. In the end, we had to tell our customers that we'd get as close as possible, but if we didn't create the original, we can't match the original. I really HATE color matching on samples people bring us. But maybe I just suck at...
  15. 8'x8' Rigid Sign Display Stand

You could check out Globotech. They're a trade show display company. Maybe they'll have something for you?
  16. 8'x8' Rigid Sign Display Stand

Here's why spider feet won't work: You'll definitely want something that gives support up the sides, and probably the top too.
  17. Print - Lam - Cut problem

In my experience, matte is more difficult for the printer to read than on gloss. I think the matte texture makes things a little fuzzy for the reader. But it should still work. You might take the advice above and check on the sensor part itself.
  18. Silver printing pinkish in some spots

Have you had any head strikes on this job or the previous one? I've noticed that after a head strike, sometimes we'll get a bleed-over effect between the colors. Most commonly for me, it's been the black bleeding into the other colors. Sounds like magenta could be mixing with your metallic...
