  1. 8'x8' Rigid Sign Display Stand

You could pretty easily build one out of lumber or PVC. But I'm guessing you're wanting something ready-made?
  2. Hello from Indiana

    Welcome from Texas.
  3. Random streaking of CMYK during print

:banghead: READ THE MANUAL! No blame on you as the new, inexperienced guy. But your printer's been screwed up by what sounds like several years of neglect. Normal, regular cleanings can prevent a lot of issues from creeping up on you. Instructions are in your manual (if they didn't toss it)...
  4. Print - Lam - Cut problem

I've had my machine do this. The times I've noticed it happen is when I chose the "Center on media" option in VW. If you want an easier alignment, be sure to deselect that option when printing. Beyond that, I've just done the "try, try again" method, and finally gotten it to read the...
  5. Random streaking of CMYK during print

Not something I would have thought of. But we've never printed wirelessly either. That's the wonderful thing about this forum.
  6. Window Lettering / Window Decal Questions

The translucent white probably won't appear a bright white, but that depends heavily on the lighting conditions both inside and outside the window. If you double layer the translucent, that could help with the opacity, but you risk getting bubbles in between the layers that would show up. Other...
  7. Random streaking of CMYK during print

It looks like your print head is misfiring. Probably time to call a tech.
  8. Who you gonna call....

Nice to know the kid has a job, right? :omg:
  9. Good quality Perf Vinyl

Definitely this. Also, you need to make sure that it's optically clear laminate for vehicles. This is typically more expensive than your normal laminate, but required by law in many (or all?) states. I've used Solvex brand in the past, and it's worked for us.
  10. Hello from New Hampshire

    Welcome aboard
  11. How best to install wide window perf????

That's a nice way to do a quick diagram. I'll have to keep this in mind for my next install. We've pretty much always done the butterfly method. Tape top & bottom in the middle, lay down one side, lay down 2nd side. But never anything that large.
  12. New Ford Aluminum Trucks - No Magnets - Options?????

I don't know. But I just requested a free sample pack. So we'll see what they send.
  13. Challenge Laminating in Humid Condition RS 1402 CW

User error is the place I always start from. I recently joined a new company that had a different brand laminator with different setup than I was used to. I've had a number of issues as I adjusted to the new machine. At first, I was tempted to say it was a machine issue. But with some...
  14. Vinyl peeling from ACM

I've had limited experience with the FDC material. But I haven't cared much for it personally. It may be a good material that is just different from what I prefer, but it seems to be harder to handle. I've been slowly moving our company over to Avery and Oracal as we need to restock, since the...
  15. removable vinyl

Are they wanting something that comes off easily and cleanly? Or are they wanting a reusable material like static cling? Most vinyl (including calendered) is removable - depending on the surface applied to. We would use Oracal 3640 for cheap, short term applications. The main issue we had was...
  16. New Ford Aluminum Trucks - No Magnets - Options?????

You could offer static cling - but I would expect it would blow off on the road. Even magnets will do this if they don't take care of them (and most customers don't). I'm not aware of any good reusable, non-permanent options for aluminim/plastic vehicles.
  17. Sidewalk sign project

Unless it's really well done, I'm thinking the customer might see it as a hack, instead of a quality money-saver option.
  18. Sign company name.

I like the joke. But I'm not sure that making a joke into a business name is a sound idea. Using humorous names is a real hit and miss thing. So many variables - target audience, current events, design/graphics going along with it, physical location, etc., etc., etc. That's part of the reason a...
  19. entitled to compensation or not

In creating the problem with the banner size, I think both sides are at fault. It sounds like you left some grey area available for them to misinterpret what you wanted. I personally have been on both sides of this problem, and it sucks. The simpler and clearer communication is, the better. I...
  20. Oracal Issues

Don't forget them being able to blame the customer for how they cared for the wrap. "Sure you produced and installed it fine, but they didn't take care of it properly."
