  1. Oce Colorado just installed

Just got one installed last week. I know there have been some threads on it so if anyone has questions, I'd be happy to try to answer or run some prints. My intention is to use this to print wall wraps on IJ180 and a lot of Window Perf on it. So far, I've learned you can't really print...
  2. RF-640 vs. TrueVIS VG 640

I can't speak for the Truevis but the RF has been a workhorse for us since we got it. Probably takes the same ink as what you have now also so no need to stock 2 different ink types. It's dual cmyk so if you need that additional color gamut, it doesn't ahve that.

  4. Suggestions ROLAND RF640 MOTOR ERROR 0044 0004

I'm not positive but I think that is the error when you run out of media. Like it tries to pull material and it can't.
  5. Need Help Graphtec Plotter Not Cutting Correctly?!?

I had an issue with print and cut decals with my graphtec 8600 for a while. Turns out it had to do with crop marks that were set in onyx in my quickset. Not sure what rip you're using but I would check some of the silly things before pursuing a hardware or sensor issue.

  7. Need Help SEMI truck 53 feet- How much should i charge it?

I need to move because there is not a snowball's chance in hell that a 53' goes for 15k in NY. If using a film laminated cast film, you can get about 8500-9500 for it plus art. You'll pay out about 2000 in labor and material, print, and finishing should cost you about 2500-3000 if you're doing...
  8. School me on Grommets

just moved on from a cheap chinese grommet machine. I went with the hiker and couldn't be happier. My production guy is much happier as well.
  9. Oce Colorado - Yay or nay

I had a bunch of samples done with solid greys which are always a nightmare. I also printed some images. Most of the work I plan on putting on there is wall and floor graphics. Also wrapping furniture for events. No stretching but bending around 90 degree corners. The end result was that I...
  10. Looking to buy a new roll fed uv printer

I've done a lot of research on roll to roll UV printers. I ultimately went with the Mutoh 1638UR and have been happy overall with it. I do wish I waited as Mimaki has now introduced a clear varnish for their unit. The Mimaki is probably the way to go at this point since it has the integrated...
  11. How do you work with big companies?

We do a lot of event work. Sometimes getting art night before the event. I give quote based on certain deadlines they have to follow. Once they pass that, they know extra guys will be needed and costs increase. I've never let a client down. I had a job recently where we installed 4300ft of...
  12. sign exchange-sign show in AC

I'll be there this year. Not much of a show but I have a good relationship with some vendors that will be there so I'm sure there will be some dinners and drinks that are worth the trip.
  13. Good removable vinyl

We do a lot of event work and put up wall wraps for 4 hour parties. We use Avery 2611 and very rarely have damage to paint upon removal.
  14. Wall film frustration

I didn't have a chance to read other responses but we stopped using any calendared films on walls completely. For sheetrock painted walls we use IJ180cv3 with 8520 matte lamination and have had zero issues. Also, we use oracal 1.5" banner tape at the top of all walls just as a little...
  15. Oce Colorado - Yay or nay

I supposedly have a demo unit being placed in my shop soon. This machine will be used primarily for wall and floor wraps so the stretchability isn't an issue. I did hear that a flexible ink should be out soon and you can convert current ink setups. I will be signing a contract for the machine...
  16. Optically Clear Poly or Vinyl for Glass Installations - HELP

I'm looking for help in finding a suitable material. I do a lot of event work and mount clear film printed with white UV ink onto mirrors. There are a few things I'm looking for below. Please let me know if you have any experience with these films. must haves 1. optically clear 2. UV...
  17. Printheads for XR-640

Friend of mine has a xr-640. Never uses it but wants to get it fixed. He needs a new print head. Anywhere to get something aftermarket? He doesn't use it enough to warrant factory pricing.
  18. Looking for advice on how to set up "tiled" print files

first off, make sure your boards are actually 48x96. Many boards show up a 1/4" over. Next, let us know what type of rip is running your printer. Probably easy enough to do in the rip. Less than a minute of work. I agree with what everyone else is saying also. The only way I would differ...
  19. 3M IJ-175 We're Lovin It!

It has a higher long term adhesion so removal leaves a lot of glue regardless of removal method.
  20. 3M IJ-175 We're Lovin It!

We use about 10-15 rolls a month. Mostly box trucks and cargo vans. Stuff we don't have to worry about removing. We had used it on some temp wraps and removal was a nightmare. Installers have been loving it. It's also not good for recessed window areas like a sprinter or transit.
