We bought an RF-640 when we started our business and it was the best investment. I absolutely love it. It's not super fast and you are a little limited by the CMYK configuration. The great part is double CMYK so you will never run out of ink. We do a lot of overnight printing and I've never...
Oracal 651 or Avery 700 series are more than sufficient for what you're doing here. Save the cast vinyls for the type of company that keeps trucks for 10 years. Cast is overkill for this project.
whatever it is, bring into photoshop, flatten the image, change resolution to 150, save as tif with LZW compression. Size will be fine for versaworks. No quality loss without using a loop.
I thought the same thing for quite a few years. The speed of laminating with a different lam than whats loaded on the roll to roll is amazing. The mounting speed is great. Most important, there is a very small learning curve. I can send anyone to laminate and mount small prints if needed.
Thanks for posting. I recently got an FC-8600 and still trying to learn. there seems to be a lot of little quirks with the machine. For example, all of a sudden, it just started sheet cutting after it was done plotting. No idea why or how to stop that.
Although I don't have it, the best rewards are the capital on spark card with 2% cashback. From what they say, they write a check to you with no 1099, it doesn't go to your business so its a true cash in your pocket card. I don't think it has many other perks.
Nobody cares about the prestige...
I would probably use a textured lam over IJ180. I've done it before with the riverbed lamination and it hid a lot. Since it's all cast, it will conform well also.
AKwrapguy is spot on. Only thing that will help is printing on EcoSolvent since those inks actually penetrate and become part of the film rather than sitting on top of the media the way latex does. You can try different medias to see what works best for your needs. There are quite a few...
I absolutely love it. We use it a lot for mounting prints on hard substrates like durabond, foamcore, sintra, etc. Also do a lot of laminating on it. The process is very simple and it's a one man operation but it leaves some quality to be desired. It leaves some silvering on darker prints...
I must be living in the wrong state. I am the expensive guy around and a 26ft box for 2 sides and rear goes for about $3,200. Add in front of box above cab and door lettering you're at $3600 plus about $400 art. It's less than a roll of material so lets say $800 in film and lam, $600 install...
We are hosting an Avery color change class end of this month here on Long Island. I think that's going to be the closest to Mass as you're gonna get for a credible course. We get people from all over the country. We'll also have the Avery certification test if you're interested in that. Look...
Avery 2600 textures are no good. They have an adhesive issue. I had a big job fail and Avery told me to use banner tape on all seams which is not plausible for obvious reasons. They are working on fixing it.
On a side note, the 2611 is a great product.
If clients are requesting Phototex, you need to try FabriTac by Ultraflexx. I just started using it and installers love it. The adhesive is a little more aggressive which is nice because I always felt like phototex was gonna fall off the wall. Also, material seems a little thicker or more...
Not sure if you're asking about a Thermal Laminator to use true hot lams or a Heat Assist Laminator. I've had both in the past but no longer have use for thermal. I do have a heat assist now and it's great with calendared films.
I've been onboarding with shopvox for the past 6 weeks. We've done a lot to get it going and started off with the apparel quotes. We're seeing lots of things that aren't adding up. Shopvox thus far has no solution. If we have to go back and manually check every price, whats the point of...
Price the client, not the job. $10/ft is a good base to start assuming you are a very experienced and/or certified installer. Also assuming a quality printer and using premium cast vinyls. We have sign shops near us that do this job for $6 a foot with a bullshit design and using calendared...
