  3. John Don't Go!

I like posting pretty pictures... I like showing people another way of looking at things... I like working on fun stuff more than the crap I have to work on. 2 things had me stop... one was I didn't get a lot of response from that effort... or in more simple terms... I saw no benefit for...
  4. John Don't Go!

Everbody loves the drama... Anyone who's agenda it is to troll 3 respected members in my opinion is pathetic... From my short encounter with him, especially the final encounter was his strong need to show up Joe, Dan and Neato. I found myself dealing with a very bitter person. I imagine...

  6. Hello...I am not a graphic artist

Ohhhh, that's bad... like really bad! I see the full picture now, and I can see why you would vent, but you have it all wrong... its not that "degreed" graphic designers suck... SHE SUCKS!!!!

  8. Hello...I am not a graphic artist

Thing is Jeff, not all degrees are the same, not all experience is. You can have a degree from Bucktooth University, or one from Art Center and it means nothing unless the instructor was good and the student paid attention. Never heard of the sign guys you list, doesn't make them good...
  9. Can I get some input on this please?

When you say automatically, it will only space how pairs were programed to space by whatever software you are using, or how the type designer spaced them... You either have to manually kern them, or some programs like Illustrator for instance has an option where you can "Optically" space...
  10. RIP Round Man

  11. Artwork Approval Contract

Thanks AF I think "SK" would be the proper designation for single sign types and sketches. Most of our work is planning designing multiple signs. We've developed a Sign Type system for our larger project that have multiple sign types. That way the client, installer and production person...
  12. Artwork Approval Contract

After reading all this... you have to have a firm policy in place. First thing is... You don't need a design to give them a price on 10 4' x 4' signs... You price the production part, and tell them they get "X" amount of minutes, and "X" amount of revisions and collect a deposit at...
  13. Flex Face Conversion

Did 2 large projects, some 40 signs at 12' x 24', using Sign Comps retrofit system. Easy to install, makes change-outs a breeze. http://www.signcomp.com/index.php
  14. Backlit Office Directory

You might want to try: National Visual Systems http://nationalvisual.com I usually design something architectural around their directory units. They do custom sizes and various panel systems. I give them the size, they work out the rest.
  15. How To Value An Existing Business & What Skills Do I Need?

Lot's of loaded questions here. First, not every sign shop is the same. Is this a full service sign shop (vinyl, wraps, interior, exterior, monuments, ADA, electrical signs) or mostly a vinyl/print shop? You don't have to answer these questions but someone should... What do they gross...
  16. New layout for "Let's Rid Our Area of Ugly Signs" campaign

  17. Cool Font Effect Using FlexiSIGN - Add a little bling to a font.

Yes, and that's the first thing I noticed. Being a merchant member, you are allowed exactly what you showed. I didn't think it was over the top or excessive. I would think a few would look forward to more. I'm sure if you ask for comments on how your websites and blogs are, you will get a...
  18. Cool Font Effect Using FlexiSIGN - Add a little bling to a font.

This site has quite a few beginners. I think having these tips is of great benefit. Thanks Mark...
  19. Fire Rated Vinyl

I didn't see where an architect was mentioned, but every architect designs a wall to conform to a fire rating. I have more good stories about architects than bad. It is my understanding that glass sign attached to a wall can not technically be fire rated as it does not have the ability...
