Maybe check your eps margin in Versaworks? If your stroke is right on the artboard/binding box you may lose some of it unless you have eps margin on, I believe ours is set to .05"

That's the gloss right? I don't think we've used it before, but we've been really happy with the 2080. We use it for a lot of different things and have never run into issues with it. Good value laminate for sure.

Totally different animals. We have a Soljet 4 and a Mimaki UCJV 300-160 and I would never compare the two. Both good machines, just very different. Glad you saw some improvements and got some value out of your forced upgrade though!
