my meeting will go much differently because this thread. thanks to everyone that gave me their ideas and caveats. really appreciate it.
  2. Offered partnership, need advice.

unless that girl has a bunch of patentable coating systems, then she's just another chick. being able to combine a brandable design doctrine with proprietary coating systems is what i've got going. and i think the scurry motif has run its course.
  3. Offered partnership, need advice.

i'm going to put together a big meeting and pitch what the company should look like. i've been the go to guy for so many projects at this company, practically winning the projects because the proposals i'm putting out. i've got a big dna research facility/university (5 stories) that chose only...

not digging the "scurry" comment. yeah. i'm 5'5" and young by some standards. but the word "scurry" is disrespectful.
  5. Offered partnership, need advice.

@signswi after looking at the machine and what it does, i'm not that impressed. my machine practically does the same thing and can lay down way more than 80 microns. my product has optical characteristics. such as, if a window has my printing system it will cast lens effects like dancing...

@just another sign guy great points. this guy brings to the table capitol of course. but also he's a respected heavy hitter in these construction projects. and has the sales, install, billing, legal, trained personnel infrastructure that i'm willing and honest to admit, i will never be the...
  7. Ideas on a Substrate

construction styro and paint them with a slow two part epoxy (non yellowing)? spray them with exterior latex white, then dip them in glue and dust them with transparent holographic glitter.
  8. Epson GS 6000 advise

+1 shops with hp's or jv33's are practically humping their printer every morning. to me that is the way to go. with printers, do not buck the trend. get what everyone else says is awesome. i'm pricing out a flatbed and almost can't resist this flatbed jv33 conversion available through...
  9. Triangle Ink and Nozzel Clog??

my mimaki is "less clogged" then ever using triangle. swab the cap tops with butyl carbitol every night, clean off the wiper and i can "not print" for days or weeks and it's ready to go like a canon. if you have good suction (wet cap tops) and clean pumps triangle will no let you down.
  10. what chemical removes adhesive from lexan?

...i put some premask on a printed (white ink) sheet of petg for protection. i don't know if the premask was bad (it was the clear stuff) or what. but i had adhesive residue everywhere. whatever i tried, ...those that wouldn't melt the petg or remove the ink, just smeared the adhesive around...
  11. Offered partnership, need advice.

that is my concern. the intellectual property. i've got the whole shop, chemicals, compatible substrates, software, mods, production methods, design styles up in my head. after they are sitting there in a big warehouse... i may be looking pretty expensive to keep around. i'd have to patent...
  12. Offered partnership, need advice.

all fantastic advice. it's great that i can bang out a quick letter and the next day get so much input to chew on. thank you everyone for spending the time to respond. i know we are all busy. so thank you very much. @briankb ...that is my greatest concern. my "vision" is a...
  13. Offered partnership, need advice.

thanks for all the advice. definitely attorneys, patents, trademarks, etc. one sad motivator is i'm 43 years old. without any retirement saved up, recovering from divorce and custody, etc. i need to make an aggressive move either by myself, with this or another partner soon. this kind of...
  14. Offered partnership, need advice.

@prowraps i remember seeing a "talk" on pbs (one of those PBS pledge drives where they do a whole week of some motivational speaker "genius"). he discussed in length how business has become too complex for one man to wholly run/own a company. that two minds play better than one. it impressed...
  15. Offered partnership, need advice.

After winging it for 32 years and having more bad to mediocre years than really good ones, my main buyer brought me into his office two days ago and offered me a partnership. At first I was only mildly interested. But after giving it some thought, I believe it may be the way to get my business...
  16. Attention HP l25500 owners!

jerky changes in direction are hard on a machine. i'd be glad if the machine performed perfectly but did have the ability to absorb it's own energy.
  17. Attention HP l25500 owners!

one thing for the guys that haven't seen it in action. this printer kinda does the "shimmy" as it prints. definitely not a deal breaker on such good engineering. but as the carriage goes left and right the printer kinda absorbs the direction change into the frame. it's really compact too...
  18. Custom Easel made by former Nazi

thank you very much. i'm wondering if a cave man version using a counter weight/pulley and pins might be possible.
  19. what chemical removes adhesive from lexan?

butyl cellosolve works great on sensitive material. can't etch the part but turns adhesive into rolly polly rubber dots.
  20. JV33 Ink Coverage

just reduce the ink coverage in the profile. your rip may be slightly different (i'm using rasterlink pro II). in the rip: choose the image_choose the profile/resolution_choose color edit_choose color adjust_go to the bottom and title the alteration (this name will only be available for the...
