We've had our printers for a couple years now and we have never printed onto perf. before. This is going on flat glass (store front) and other than printing like normal I don't really know anything I should be watching out for. Basically looking for any tips for printing on the perf.

Not to put blame but we used to have an installer who was sort of like this, he would scratch the **** out of some glass, then move onto the next piece and do the exact same thing. Why didn't the guys who removed the wrap stop as soon as they saw that the paint and silicone was peeling and call...
Okay so I had some guys stop down and take a look at the material and it is definitely a stock roll product. Attached are some close ups of the material now and my guy says that the material is almost "textured" (the clear parts are smooth material and the frosted parts are raised).
Hope...
After these projects wrap up and he comes to you with more, ask him for a deadline date (what day do you need this by) and work your own pace on it with everything else you've got going on. This way you can mix it in with your workflow and see if you have time for the job, and you can prepare...
There was a portable version of illustrator out there, I used to have a copy on a USB stick that I kept around with me, just plug n play but I'm not sure where it is now a days. You could check the net for a version of it.

Decorativefilms is a site only, they have distributors that carry the product. I know in Canada the distributor is Xpel Canada (which is a pain to deal with). Solyx is now owned by 3M (think it was last year they bought out solyx). I know the photos I have attached are not a 3M or Solyx product...
This pattern, can anyone tell me if they've seen this before as a product that you can buy?? I swear I have seen this pattern before as a roll that you can buy but I can't find any samples of it anywhere.

They are not too bad, we have to order full rolls of material when we do (not sure if it's because we're in Canada) but when we order it is for large jobs and we use the majority of it. I think we have ordered about 6-8 of the different colours, some are a thinner product than others but are...
There is something similar to those, we have used the hexis C series once and it was okay to work with, found this other company out of Clearwater Florida that has similar products but more colours to choose from. They're called "Solar Graphics", www.coloredfilms.com 1-800-869-8468

So we have used Hexis frost (S5DEPM) before on numerous occasions and have found that its a decent material to work with and its fairly cheap, and is a close match to other frosted materials. My question arises now, does anyone have any experience with other Hexis vinyls and/or print media?

We have done a few of these, best thing we have found is to print on optically clear (reverse) then print on block out material (if you can - if not then print on optically clear again) and laminate them together. We use 3M IJ8150 and KPMF white/white block out. I'm sure any optically clear...
Depending on how much time you have invested already, if it is worth it if the customer gets it done elsewhere, send them a bill for your time, if they don't pay (which I'm guessing they would tell you to go blow) put a lien on their business. That would clear it up real quick. Of course you...
I agree with Doug, in Canada (atleast in Alberta) $15/hour you wouldn't even get an application unless someone was desperate but when the local Tim Hortons pays that much plus benefits etc. its hard to compete and you have to pay on how much you value the employee. I've worked in multiple sign...
We are a 3M authorized company up in Canada and Di-Noc isn't even cheap for us. I think we even pay about $10+/sqft even at ordering a full roll. We rarely use it unless it is a spec'd material and the company won't budge. We just give them the price... sometimes they accept it and sometimes...
I've got an issue with my material sticking to itself on the takeup. I'm printing to 3m IJ8150, solid colour red 60" wide by 150ft rolls (that's the size of the print). I've tried playing around with the media feed speeds, heat settings, setting a delay in print (5 passes then 10 sec rest) and...
Anything to make a buck... I would say that's taking it a little to far. We deal with large suppliers and small, and get great service from both, which I would think the small guys would "try" a little harder. Frustrating but what can ya do.

Thanks, Ill check into that. It's just weird because I've had the printer for almost 5 years and this is the first time it's happened and I'm the only operator. Its a Seiko CP w-64s

I would suggest not using acrylic outdoors as it expands and contracts. The letters could crack if you get some warm weather roll through while the air is still cold (spring/fall time).
As far as the PVC panel, if you wrap the vinyl around the back and use an edge sealer on the edge, it should...
