  1. Onyx RIP Print gutter issue

Okay so this is weird, not sure why its happening but it is. Have the print gutter completely turned off (no left or right selected - gutter size box is greyed out) but it still prints the gutter. I need to be printing the full width of my material but it keeps adding in the gutter. Does...
  2. Elevator Door Graphics

Agreed, and make sure that you get the elevator shut off key. That's the only way that we will do elevator doors now. Also a tip, at the centre where the doors meet, wrap the edge a 1/4" and use edge sealer. This will prevent anyone from just grabbing the edge of the material and pulling on it...
  3. how is business?

Completely swamped. Booking almost into August for installs at this point. Got a bunch of large graphic jobs to install (floors upon floors of 48" high print) and not enough installers! Consistently working 60+ hrs a week for couple years now.. you get used to it haha There's just never enough...
  4. Hello ONYX mgt = help me out I am in a right pickle..........newby

They way I do it, is in Illustrator (CS6) create my file of what I want to print, then create my cut line on a separate layer, I create a new colour swatch; name it CutContour (which you can change [in onyx] to whatever you want) and make sure it is set as a spot colour, and the actual colour of...
  5. Illustrator / Preflight colours don't match!

Where in Onyx do I check this? Chaz
  6. Illustrator / Preflight colours don't match!

Just turned off all ICC profiles, and the CMY are all set to 0 now, but K is not at 76, not 30 and color correction is greyed out. Unless I missed something? Chaz
  7. Perferated Window Film settings?????????????

Pretty sure if the print head was rubbing on the material you would be getting some streaking from the head on the material. I would check your platen gap and raise if it is rubbing. Other than the buzzing, does the print come out looking alright? Chaz
  8. Illustrator / Preflight colours don't match!

Hey all, I'm running into an issue I have never seen before. I have a file in illustrator (CS6) with the only colour being black @ %30, when I print the PDF and open in onyx (10.2.5) and preflight, under the color correction the colours show as using all CMYK. Is there a reason for this, or...
  9. Printed Acrylic exterior Business Sign Plaque Question

Not sure if it is the same where you are, but where I am, Acrylic can't go outside, too much variation in temperature cause the acrylic to expand and contract, and when it is screwed in if there is not enough room in screw holes etc. for the acrylic to expand/contract it will crack. Could use...
  10. Anyone have a PMS color chart with pms number and 'c' for coated?

Here is a link to one that you can download from member TrevJonez. https://github.com/trevjonez/Pantone-Color-Book-Builder It is fantastic, print your own pantone style book on all media/printers in a couple easy steps. It has cut lines for cutting the books out as well. Very well put together...
  11. Dumb perf question

Okay, so we have rarely ever used window perf and going to be printing on it for the first time. My question lies in what lam I should be using with contravision 60/40 perf. Does it actually matter which lam. I used? My distributor is gearing me towards Avery DOL1560 or 3M 8914. I would have to...
  12. Just gotta rant...

Gotta love these guys that do it for nothing... IF these people actually have someone else who gave those quotes.... one of the few businesses where someone buys a 24" plotter and printer and calls themselves a sign guy... screws all the rest of us who have put the years in to get to where we...
  13. Just gotta rant...

I would be telling the guy to go blow... We get that all the time, "is this your best price" and sometimes I just want to increase my price and say no this is my best price in hopes they go away.. unfortunately that's good not business. There's always someone around the corner that loves to...
  14. yikes!!!! anyone know this one

People just have to make things hard haha I would just suggest that it would be cheaper to re-create it similar since there is nothing to compare to. Should be able to do that in illustrator in a few min, there isn't much too it. Chaz
  15. Clear vinyl issues?

We print on 2 different printers (epson s50670 and seiko CP w64s) and the epson has an 8150 profile, but the seiko doesnt so we just use a generic clear profile, works without issues. 3M is more expensive but I've never had it fail in my 15yrs in the industry... we mainly use it because we...
  16. yikes!!!! anyone know this one

Looks like painted script... may never be able to find a font close... I would offer your customer the chance to use a different font or offer to re-create vector artwork at a cost. Personally I would re-create it, would just require a head on photo and about 15 min vs. searching and searching...
  17. Frustrated with 4Over

That's shady business... puts a bad name to all of the rest of us who would actually produce it in time to ship that next day! Chaz
  18. New to Illustrator

if you send it to me I will take a look at it. PM me and I'll send my email Chaz
  19. Clear vinyl issues?

3M IJ 8150 Optically clear is what we use, laminate with the 8150 on top. If you have a printer with the 3M MCS warranty approved inks, this combo will be warranted for 5 yrs outdoor (if I remember correctly off the top of my head) and 8 yrs indoors. Chaz
  20. Shop logo attempt

The logo looks fantastic, I would make 1 slight change, move the "since 1973" down below the "ns" in signs. Visually you read L to R T to B, since the "since" is stuck right in there you may read it before the Signs. I agree with HDvinyl, pay Jill and you're off to the races. Chaz
