As for color matching, give it the correct information (LAB that is) don't restrict it with ICC input profiles be it CMYK or RGB. Using LAB values (from named spot colors) to the a properly profiled output device profile will be the maximum gamut you can get with that printer. If you...
Create a custom spot. Create a spot color library in your RIP. Name the spot color in your library the same as your spot color in your application. Now read with a spectro the LAB values of the cut vinyl you are trying to match. Your RIP should have an option to do this. Once you have your LAB...
The best thing to do is create a new Linearization, Ink Limits and Profile. That will save you lots of time and materials in the long run and avoid all the guesswork and tweaking.
If Flexi offers a 'pure hues' function then use that when you want pure yellow, blacks etc.
There is no...
Color Management settings are not correct.
Linearization and Profile was not created for your printer media combination or you made a mistake when creating your Linearization and Profile.
Also helps if you set RIP to print as Clean Colors.
Talk about inaccurate statements. You have no clue what you are talking about.
The RIP sending a file with a icc attached is totally inaccurate.
There is no Color Management done on the printer, that is a the function of the RIP. That is why the RIP downloads the icc profile from the printer...
Talk about internet knowalls, how many RIPs and printers have you run in the last 30 years. If you know anything about all kinds of RIP you would know they all have their good points and bad points depending on what your needs are, instead of getting all Butt-Hurt when someone say something you...
I also noticed that most HP dealers only sell the lower end cheaper RIPS like Grimco for example which only sells Onyx and Flexi. But I do see that Advantage does sell Caldera.
I would take a serious look at Fiery XF then. You can choose a number of different way to nest like best for cutting, best for media saving etc. or just drag prints to where you want it in the nesting. And you can replace any spot colors right in the color tabs. Colorgate is fairly easy to...
I would look at Colorgate, Fiery XF or Caldera.
I demoed Onyx as well and was not impressed. It was much slower to get anything done and didn't create very good profiles. It struggled with bright saturated colors that other RIPs did a much better job of rendering. It may have been that I did...
For retractable I would use Grimco rollup

Advantage Sign Supply also have good lay-flat 6.5 mil film for retractable banners.
Ultraflex products is something you will want to stay as far away from as possible. Nothing but trouble at...
Stay as far away from Ultraflex as you can get.
On the other hand if you wipe it with alcohol and wiping off the plasticizers that have come to the surface you should be able to eliminate the ink coalescing.
I print on 30mil magnetic material all the time.
Here is a 18mil ridged film that print great on the L360.
