  2. Preparing MDO

I 've had great success with latex paints, but as stated, there are brands that I've had trouble with. Benjamin Moore paint wouldn't allow the vinyl to adhere. It had a "greasy" film after it dried. If you look through some of the sign magazines of late you'll see many signmakers adding or...
  3. Preparing MDO

I agree with imaSIGNr and use a solid white latex as a primer along with using other high quality latex primers. My favorite primer is Acyl-loc which is sold here in Canada at Home Hardware. For finish coats, I have been using 100% acrylic exterior house paints. This is something I been doing...

  9. Epson Pro 4800 question

I have some Epson 7800 ultrachrome ink prints that are laminated and have been outside for over 2 years with no signs of fade. I'm actually testing these prints along side some Roland PC-50 thermal prints. The thermal prints are starting to fade a little. Both prints were done at the same time...
  10. Will this Roland ever live again!!

I bought a PC 50 brandnew in 1997. The salesman convinced me it was the latest and greatest at the time. I think I paid $8000.00 canadian! Oh well, live and learn. I hardly used it for printing, the odd decal or very small print. I used it mainly as a cutter for 8 years and it was very reliable...

I have been running my summa d60 on Window 98 for about 6 months. I use Corel and export into Winplot. The other day I went to cut and the message in Winplot came up as " Failed to Open Device Comm1". The plotter was not fully size up the media either. Re-loaded the Summa driver and I think I...
  17. eclipse plotters?

I purchased an Eclipse plotter about 3 months ago. I purchased mine from ND Graphics. They have outlets in most major cities across Canada. The Eclipse is a rebadged Summa. They are a great plotter as anyone who owns a Summa or Eclipse can attest to. They are pretty much bullet-proof and have...

You could buy an Epson c88 desktop printer. It prints 8.5" x 44" and uses Durabrite (pigment) ink. Make sure the decals are laminated.
  19. Corel and GX24

I plan on purchasing the Roland GX24. Roland states that the Cut-Studio software can be used with Corel 10 - 12. I have Corel 9 and was planning to purchase X3. Can I export files (.ai or .eps) into Cut-Studio or do I have to purchase Corel 10 - 12.
  20. epson

Make sure your printer has pigment inks. Dye inks will fade fast, even if laminated. Epson desktop printers (Durabrite & Ultrachrome inks) are the only desktop printers that use pigment ink.
