  1. Printing grey scale

search the forums for it. having profiles that could properly print warm greys have always been an issue since it needs a good balance between the cyan, magenta and yellow colors to get the greys right. kelly
  2. SC-540 Light Cyan not firing?? Please help

you can prime it by pulling ink from the pumps. but before i do that, i'd try to figure out where all the air come from first. i'd first take a look at the dampers.
  3. SC-540 Light Cyan not firing?? Please help

please make sure that you actually have ink. after you actually do that, you can prime it. if you've had ink all this time, then there is a leak somewhere. but that is very unlikely since you're not complaining of ink being everywhere. kelly
  4. SC-540 Light Cyan not firing?? Please help

lolz. common sense would dictate that since you can only see a few drops of ink on your lines - then either you have a major leak on your lines, or you are just basically out of ink. i thought you said that you already checked that? btw, your magenta is also out of ink. :omg2:
  5. SC-540 Light Cyan not firing?? Please help

i wouldn't recommend it. there isn't any particular reason for just half of your head to suddenly clog up. what you could do is to use a syringe to pull ink from the pumps in order to make sure that the ink is flowing nicely.
  6. SC-540 Light Cyan not firing?? Please help

if the damper looks fine. then it might also be an o-ring problem. you could replace the o-ring, or better yet - change the damper as you mentioned. if there are no problem in the ink system, the next possible culprits would be electrical in nature. check the cables, and/or swap them out like...
  7. SC-540 Light Cyan not firing?? Please help

check to make sure that you have ink for that side. otherwise, there's probably a leak in the damper.
  8. How many patches do you scan?

hi rooster! you've helped me quite a bit during my profiling process before. but you never mentioned "averaging the readings." how the heck do you do that? hehe. i'm having some problems getting good color from my higher resolution profiles. thanks in advance! kelly

  10. designing for billboards

yep. i'm unable to see the embedded images. with my firefox, it does show the link, but there isn't any thumbnail. clicking on it throws me to a login screen that says i don't have permission to access the file. i just assumed that it was a premium subscriber thing. btw, i do actually see...

  12. Question about cutting substrate

yep. dale has been working on that one. he even sent over a couple for me to try when i bought a few Big Squeegee's. however, they are still under prototype stages. so, scary bugs are still lurking. feel free to contact him about it. he's very accommodating. :) kelly
  13. SC-545EX Networking?

i have an SC-540. assuming that your printer is connected via ethernet, there is a tool that lets you check what your machine's current IP is. also, in case you need to specify the IP address for your printer, i believe that you need to get into service mode in order to do that. but to...
  14. Third party wiper/dampers/caps etc.

hi all! for those who have used third party parts [probably from china] for your roland printers, i was wondering what kind of luck you've had with them. i have tried the dampers, and the capping station for my SC-540 [DX4 heads] and they seem to be performing ok. but my silicon wiper...

  20. sp540v head and color help

i think that drawing ink from the pumps using a syringe is still your best best. bec it might clear up any clogged nozzles, and confirm if you have a good vacuum on your caps. sadly, i've never seen any videos, nor official instruction manual for it. i know about it bec i've seen my tech do...
