No clue what our best month is because it constantly changes. Last year March, April and May were flush with transom lettering and boot stripes. So far this year I've only done one repair job and bid on a boot stripe.
But industrial labeling has filled in that hole. Picked up two new clients...
Sounds good. Something I learned doming. Start about 1/8" in from the edge of the decal and let it flow out before filling the center. When filling the center I make concentric rings and watch the flow. After you ruin a few you quickly develop a feel for how much to dispense. I pop bubbles...
I know a little about doming. How will you be doming? Dedicated doming machine or binary cartridges? I do limited runs here and the doming liquid isn't cheap. Price for the cartridge is spread out over the total number of units. Also need a climate controlled, dust free environment for best...
Make them? For one client I have a local shop laser the blanks. I send them a DXF file and they call me for pickup.
I clean/etch them in the dishwasher. Wife loves that...not.
Saving on taxes is true. My client in Michigan saved over $50,000 in tax by federally registering. As far as renaming goes been doing that too. So far none of them have sunk or disappeared.
Looking at a new printer right now. I like having production in house. If I make a mess of something I can usually fix it same day.
New printer will have a TUR for long jobs that I typically outsource.
Yup. Federally registered. Hailing port has to be 4" tall minimum. Fed registration numbers are black and usually get epoxied into an engine room bulkhead.
I was having the same issue. You may have to shim the cartridge. What I ended up doing was taking the cover off to see what was going on and to do some cleaning. I removed a metal tab/spring over the Cyan slot and noticed it sitting on top of the printer after I replaced the cover. Been...
Few years ago a guy wanted his lettering repaired. Quoted $140 for the work. Said it was too expensive.
It was the same day he was having the oil changed which cost $3000.
iDot prints/installs great. The gloss white prints really well, but leave a white bleed or you'll get a slight lifting in the direction of roll wind.
I use a glove for initial tack then go over with a felt squeegee.
Ikarasu hit it on the head. Buy from a place that has good service even if it costs more. I'm getting quotes from a dealer with certified tech that's within a half hour of my shop.
Depends on where they're going to be used and how long clients expect them to last.
For example: I make industrial labels and it's all done with cast and cast laminate. Same as I use for vehicle graphics.
Other things get 4 mil calendared with no lamination. Some 4mil gets laminate.
Without...
