I'm sorry I need to correct this.
What improves scratch resistance is IN the ink, is something HP named "Anti Scratch Agent".
The Optimizer improves print quality on higher print speeds, and is the reason why banding doesn't appear anymore even if you print 20sqm an hour.
Have a look on this...
Yes. HP has published an "answer" to that (is attached), as I have done a few months ago here on Signs101.
You won't have more issues with color consistency on the new than on the old machine. In opposite, it is improved with the Latex 360. Color Consistency is a typical Issue with thermal...
Compare the weights of the Roland and the HP:
Roland XR-640: 205kg
HP Latex 360: 207kg
If a Roland with a metal housing and additional mechanics for the Contour Cutting weights less than a Print-Only Latex with a lot of plastic, to what conclusion will that lead according to the basic engine...
I work at an HP dealer, and we had a lot more problems with the length accuracy of Latex 260 and 280 than with the 300-series. With the 260 and 280 (26500 and 28500) it was a problem of the infrared temperature sensor, and how it works on uni- or multicolor surfaces.
On the Latex 360, HP have...
Whenever you set OPOS Markers in very low distance, you take the risk that a different marker is read. There is no difference between D and T, OPOS X and OPOS CAM. I do not know what you mean with a "mechanical" OPOS-Sensor, the OPOS X-Sensors are the same.
An OPOS CAM will not be lowered on...
The magnet works permanently, it needs power everytime when the carriages separate, and the carriage needs to be hooked. If you get motor errors 0040 and 0080, the magnet itself could not be the reason.
One reason for it could be truly a wrong limit initialize.
What firmware version do you currently use?
There is a very little upgrade currently out which can be downloaded, but it is not set to be available for upgrade from the last version because it is not necessary.
If you use 00_06_02.10, you will not be able to upgrade to 00_06_02.12 through the...
Upgrading the FlexiPRINT HP Edition to the premium version is not the same price as buying Onyx in the first place. Perhaps only if you consider RIPCenter, but this version is really poor on features (not comparable to FlexiPRINT Premium Edition). The upgrade is a few hundred Dollars only.
And...
Something about comparison: if he uses a 360 at his location, this printer will do the media advancement calibration automatically. Could be confusing.
You can be shure if you ask such questions to more people you will get "the only one I will ever suggest" recommendation for every RIP on the market today :) .
Flexi is a good choice, for some of the latex printers it is the OEM-RIP HP delivers in the box. Flexi can't be the cause for grainy...
One reason for grainy print can be that the feed setting is wrong. This could specially be the problem if the side margins of the print are ok, but the front and back margins are unsharp.
You will find a test print in Settings - Image quality maintenance - Substrate advance calib - Print...
Should be no problem. Problems can happen when processing vinyl (cutting or specially printing) directly out of this trailer, if there is a high temperature difference between the trailer and the workshop. Let the media acclimatize a few hours in the workshop before using it.
Which cutter do you use? And which software?
If you use a Summa S-Class or SummaCUT-R-Model, you could set RIP (if it supports it) and Cutter to OPOS XY which will compensate some effects of vinyl deformation. If possible with your RIP, you could set the number of markers to a higher amount...
The CSM-Files are no driver files, but driver configuration files. So it could be that with the CSM-file only, your plotter will not work either, because some DLL- oder XML-File is still missing.
It is the easiest way, but not the best way. No other roll cutter beats the contour cutting abilities of Summa's OPOS X. It is much faster, more reliable and more functional than the roland system. I know noone who bought a roland cutter for contour cutting.
If using FlexiSIGN-PRO (up to 11, since 12 named "FlexiSIGN & PRINT"), you can use the Softproof-Feature in the "View"-Menu. Be shure that the color settings are correctly set to the printer and profile you want to simulate.
So Roland has now solved an issue commercial RIP-Vendors have solved several years ago. Another argument to buy commercial RIP's instead of using free VersaWorks.
Would be useful only if third party plotters would be supported. I know no-one who uses a stand alone Roland Cutter for Contour...
