  1. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

That would have been a interesting seminars. I have been involved in design and printing color on offset, Inkjet and digital presses, capturing color on film, scanning and digital cameras over the last 30 years. I have lost track of how many RIPs I have used in that time or how many different...
  2. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

I have seen enough of Onyx to not bother or waste my time discussing it further, other than to help those try to achieve better color, even though that may mean having to dig up deeply buried dialogs. So, hopefully this discussion will help further the understanding of that process in Onyx or...
  3. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

In clarifying my discussion of LAB I was only referring to the assigned values is a RIP when it is given a named spot color in the file to act upon as to what color to output based on the calibration/profile combination to maximize the gamut of the printer and media combination. Don't confuse...
  4. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

Are you serious? I should open my clients supplied PDF in Illustrator just to put trim and grommets marks and then re-save as a pdf. I don't need that kind of trouble. And, with so many other things going against it, this is the last straw for any Onyx consideration here.
  5. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

Look, I asked for one basic function here that most other RIPs have. Read the LAB values for a spot or any other color (like a customer supplied paint chip) with a spectro. None of you Onyx apologists have point it out. There is a lot of other basic RIP functions like grommet marks. frame marks...
  6. Rip Software

Make sure you get some demos of higher end RIPs like ColorGate, Fiery XF, as well as the lower end ones like Flexi and Onyx. You will find the higher end RIPs a breeze to work with while the lower end ones are slow, controls scattered about and a can be a pain to get good color especially if you...
  7. Sign Estimating Software

Are you going to have a Mac version?
  8. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

Ancient cmyk for offset press condition are gamut limiting which is why RGB will give you more saturated colors, but that is no excuse or workaround for not being able to hit named spot colors, which should be characterized by proper labs values in a RIP.
  9. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

This discussion was about hitting PMS 107 or 108. There is no out of gamut reason why you can't hit PMS 107 or 108 with a Latex printer. It is simply a lack of proper color management in the RIP or the operator reason. How many different RIP have you used? You will never know what the gamut...
  10. Forced into low ink densities on the L360

But I would like to able to see where that limit to adequately dry a specific volume of ink is.
  11. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

If you can use the 100% Yellow the printer prints like in an ink limiting chart (I have found that pretty good) try that Device Value setting and see what happens for a setting of 0%C 0%M 100%Y 0%K in the print file.
  12. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

I just started Thrive and went into the Swatch books but I still can't find a way to pick a Pantone Spot Color (one that is in the doc to print) and measure that and enter new Lab values for that specific spot color. I get a lot of jobs from clients that specify a particular Pantone Spot Color...
  13. Forced into low ink densities on the L360

Did a little test at 4 pass. Both Film settings and the middle Textile produced the same washed out look on Banner material that PVC Banner does. It is a real shame that 4 pass is not usable unless you don't want bright saturated colors.
  14. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

Unfortunately you are using Onyx. I tried Onyx Thrive when I first got my L360 after having to replace the L25500 and I could find no place where you could set Black as InkJet Black or Clean colors. Furthermore I could not even find where you could set custom colors or edit Pantone colors like...
  15. Forced into low ink densities on the L360

Interesting find. Makes you wonder if this also applies to frontlit settings. Would 6 pass 80% ink density on polyester film have more ink density than 6 pass 80% ink density on PVC banner? Looks like more testing is in order.
  16. L3xx Downloading new substrate WARNING

I discovered this is the course of beta testing drivers for another RIP. No big deal because I was going to make a new calibration and profile anyhow for that substrate. And what I have been testing is what color quality difference if any can be seen with ink limits per channel and linearization...
  17. L3xx Downloading new substrate WARNING

Be very careful about downloading new substrates. If they have the same name (even though the listed name in the online search was not the same) as one that you have already created or installed from another downloaded your settings will be overwritten with the new one and any new Print Modes...
  18. HP Latex 360 and L26500 color matching

I think the trick is going to be to lower the ink limits on the L26500 to try to match the forced low ink limits on the L360 before profiling.
  19. Need Opinion from those who have used Onyx 11 & Caldera VisualRIP

I have been testing RIPs Caldera and now Onyx while waiting for final release of the Fiery XF drivers for my HP L360. Caldera - Not bad, good control over some things like CM, easy to create profiles, nesting, step and repeat, but poor implementation of marks and too much jumping between...
  20. Forced into low ink densities on the L360

Just wanted to bump this back up and encourage anyone with the L3xx series or anyone thinking of purchasing one to call HP and complain about the ink densities settings. If we all complain it will be much more likely that HP will correct this with a firmware update.
