  1. Flatbed UV prints + Decals peeling the ink off

I'm not really racking my brain on it. Whether it's a $1 profit or a $100 profit... we try to put out a good product. We used to screen print everything, and it worked great - Obviously paint bonds way, way better than UV ink. Our process / coro was picked and designed around screen printing...
  2. Question Customer refuses to pay, can I take his graphics down?

Every province has different procedures. But in BC... Anyone can open a small claims case against anyone. It's a $150 fee to open a claim in BC... then a few bucks to serve the notice / etc. They'll get the notice of the claim.. and they can respond to it, by either paying you before the...
  3. Flatbed UV prints + Decals peeling the ink off

Some agents are stingy... Some aren't. I notice it's usually the new ones who buy cheap stuff... ones with no clientele, so they dont want to spend money. I have a few family members in real estate... They make a killing in this market, But they dont cheap out either. We also have some clients...
  4. Flatbed UV prints + Decals peeling the ink off

Yup, that's the plan. I figured it was just the nature of the beast, but wasn't sure if maybe our coro has been sitting there too long, or we got a bad batch / etc. We upsell to vinyl prints quite a bit... Some customers like how glossy / vibrant it is compared to UV. In our area houses sell...
  5. Flatbed UV prints + Decals peeling the ink off

We do sell toppers / hangers also. I think they just got used to the durability of screen printing... so they just slap their decals anywhere. I printed something yesterday... Threw on some non removable, and some removable this morning... I didn't even let it sit for more than 30 seconds and...
  6. Flatbed UV prints + Decals peeling the ink off

So, we usually screen print all our real estate signs, then just flatbed the name / images on them. But all the major companies have changed their design to look.. prettier, and it makes screen printing a royal pain. so we've started to just flatbed the whole sign. Here lies the problem... The...
  7. Discussion Where does one draw the line between graphics and a wrap?

Agreed. Your either looking at a full wrap... Or a print and cut. Id never wrap 75% of the vehicle... You'll never match the white / sheen. And it'd look weird having only the front door not wrapped. Print + cut for the best look... Upsell to a full wrap as an added paint protection /...
  8. Suggestions Recommendations of home office printers that do stickers/decals?

Color laser looks like crap. And the color Gamut is equally so. Laser printers are meant as a cheap way to print "ok" quality prints, not photos or anything I'd call acceptable for a decal. Inkjet is OK... But you run into durability issues. But for $500, you have no choice. Inkjet ink is...
  9. What do you guys prep surfaces with

Co worker uses windex. Everyone says not to because of the wax in the no streak formula. I always Complain and tell him to use alcohol.... But he's been doing it for 15+ years with windex and hasn't had a problem yet... So he sees no point in changing. We bought a couple gallons of 99%...
  10. Printable reflective

Depending on your machine... You could use 3m 3430, 4080, 3930... Etc. They're more.of a white... But they do have Greyish lines. They're also not comfortable / air release, if you're wrapping something.
  11. Employees Are The Worst

Home school is great. But it's a lot more work not just for the kid...but for you. It doesn't just stop at school... Kids learn to be social and they get their personality from other kids. Homeschooling works if you enroll your kid in tons of social activities and allow them to meet friends...
  12. WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO BRAND OF PRINTABLE VINYL?

Schools and hospitals use low VOC paints and additives that prevent dirt from sticking too much to the walls. Every paint is different... We have good luck with ij40, bit even then sometimes it's an issue. Make sure the wall has a few days to dry before applying graphics... If they're ok with...
  13. Question Graphtec FC 8600 what is the maximum length I can cut? Can I run a job at 123"?

Yup. Easily doable. How do you setup your cuts? Using onyx / Flexi it'll add lines every xx inches for the graphtec to read, so it'll stay accurate. Using cutting master I'm not sure if it adds intermediate marks... I wouldn't try to do it with just four corners, but providing your software...
  14. HP Latex + Built in Color calibration

Which latex do you have? I've heard during updates... It'll reset custom profiles back to OEM defaults for media downloaded via the media locator. Which is why I've heard it's best to clone a profile so you dont lose your ICC. And now I'm hearing it's best to start a profile from scratch.. so...
  15. HP Latex + Built in Color calibration

Yes, I know. When I say onyx, I just mean the profile it's using. I don't blame onyx. It works great on user created profiles. For all I know my profile is bugged/bad... I can't get into it to see how it's reading colors / what anything is set at. So it may not be hps fault.. I'm using the...
  16. HP Latex + Built in Color calibration

The HP latex will create ICC profiles. You however have no say in how it creates it. You cant pick between GCR/UCR. You can't choose when it starts adding black... You can't tweak it at all. The latex's ICC profile creating is like profiling for dummies. You get a one button click, with no other...
  17. HP Latex + Built in Color calibration

Yep - Wagner was nice enough to send me a message though, you can setup the HP Latex as a color device in onyx... print everything out through onyx and have it auto read it still. then everything should be editable. Not sure how well it'd work, as I haven't had time to test it. But I...
  18. HP Latex + Built in Color calibration

My eyes are telling me it's purple. I'd post a picture if I didn't throw it out already... but I'll give an example. Pantone 429... Supposed to be a light grey. The latex printer wants to turn it to - 30/31/29/0. My flatbed, which I tweaked the Linearization on... It tries 8/.5/0/31, which...
  19. HP Latex + Built in Color calibration

Yeah, we have an X-rite. I was given a few tips on how to fix the linerization / profiling, which I'll try to do tomorrow. If it doesn't help,I'll use X-rite and onyx... I prefer having more control over linerization / starting blacks / etc anyways. And yes... I noticed the internal wont do...
  20. HP Latex + Built in Color calibration

It shows up as "3rd party" under onyx, and actually has copyright information... so I'm going to assume thats why onyx cant edit it. I know theres a free ICC editor out there... I'll give it a try. If it works, might be time to finally upgrade X-rites software to allow editing!
