  1. Knifeless tape

id probably still do the perf with a knife, and have a tiny illegible line of legalize defining "near" (from post#8) as 2mm. LoL
  2. Vector Help

Sounds like a job for Vector Dr.
  3. Color Confused??

:goodpost: Just as a note, when referencing the pantone color bridge swatch book, it does not represent the closest match when printing on a digital press from a file designed in RGB.
  4. Knifeless tape

I'm just thinking, If I tell a customer that we do knifeless installations so a blade never comes close to the paint, then when he gets a quote from someone else, and asks them if they do knifeless installations, the hook is set.
  5. Knifeless tape

I figured, If it works, could help set you apart being able to sell your wraps as knifeless, as an added benefit for the customer.
  6. Color Confused??

Digitally printed inks have a wider color gammut than a CMYK offset press. if you design in CMYK, you dont take advantage of that. If you design in RGB, you will not get the full RGB color spectrum, But it will be more than CMYK. End result = brighter colors, especially blues, oranges & purples
  7. Rastered text in photoshop question...

make sure you have antialiasing turned on. It will smooth out the edges of text that would normally be pixeled. you can change the anti aliasing setting from the type palet.

  9. customer wants .pdf what would you do?

correct. If you want me to design sonething for one time use, it is one price. If you would like to take my design and use it it other aspects to proffit from it is another price.
  10. customer wants .pdf what would you do?

True. However, My whole argument is that a labor charge is not a commission fee for artwork. If I commission a painter for work, I guarantee hes not just going to charge me an hourly rate. As stated before the artwork has more value than simply time invested.
  11. customer wants .pdf what would you do?

It sounds like you have the price of the design built in to the cost wich works out, Thats what we do anyway to avoid the confusion. I also like the idea of calling it a "set-up" fee instead of a "design fee"
  12. customer wants .pdf what would you do?

your representation of my comment is twisted. as I stated before, if you go to a mechanic because your transmission is busted you cant expect to pay them just for the labor and not the transmission itself. If someone pays me for my time to design something they do not own my design just the same...
  13. More Concession trailers!

Basically. They throw a bunch of sugar and ice in a cup then fill it wit squeezed lemons and water, put another cup on top and shake it till the wheels fall off. Funny you mention. My original had no wood, they requested the wood background. All the fonts have been changed adnauseum...
  14. Thoughts?

    :roflmao:
  15. customer wants .pdf what would you do?

If your car needs a new transmission can you take it in and only pay the labor? The design itself holds value that is not covered by a simple labor fee just like a transmission.
  16. More Concession trailers!

that was originally what they wanted, but I created the cartoon Items and they liked it with the beachy, boardwalk theme/colors (Thank God). just finished a real food trailer today too, the italian sausage looked like a turd on a bun.
  17. More Concession trailers!

funny you mention. they just said they wanted to change it (all signs read as customer specified). they now want both flip ups on the side to read funnel cakes and the flip ups on the end to read Corn Dogs. there are also 4 corner flipups that will read Lemon Shakeup. since that is all they sell...
  18. More Concession trailers!

Heres the latest concession trailer work-up. Good, Bad, Indifferent?
  19. customer wants .pdf what would you do?

Think about it this way, Joe Schmoe comes in to your shop and asks you to design a sign for him. It takes you 90 minutes to complete to satisfaction so you charge 90 min worth of design time. Then he asks for the vector file so he can order $10,000 in signs from the guy in the next town over...
