i usually just give general specs, and unless they give me the measurements, I don't include them on a quote.
the entire "free quote" thing is a pile of ****. i usually decline big quotes if I know they are just shopping prices. I'm never the cheapest.
i don't do these kinds of jobs, but if i did, I think that number sounds too low.
I know how much significantly smaller, easier jobs cost. This one should be more per sqft, not less.
The faces are new. Thanks for the info.
And yes, I always try to steer people in the direction of cut vinyl for these jobs, but this is a big plaza with national franchises. I'm not doing cut vinyl for 8 different logos.
we usually like to do it this way, too. But we're replacing all the panels in a big shopping plaza, and there are multiple tenants on each face. If you saw what they currently look like, you'd keep it as simple as possible to change out tenants too.
I have no idea, but it looks like you did everything right.
Is there any chance this client LOVES to wash their vehicle? One mystery was solved when I found out the person washed their truck with Mother's Car Wash detergent multiple times a week. (He did NOT like a dirty work truck.)
What material are you printing on for backlit exterior graphics?
We try to always use cut vinyl on light boxes, but this job needs to be printed. We are not retrofitting the existing structure to use flexfaces or other systems.
The last time we did a similar job, we used Arlon DPF6500 and it...
my partner does this all the time. if I can catch it in time, I fix it. Its stupid to waste time doing the same thing twice, but, like, i have pride in my work. I'm not sending out garbage when I know its garbage and I can fix it.
i used to quote using their catalog. But then when I go to order the job, i need to wait an additional 2 or 3 days to get the quote from them back before I can move the job into production. So now I just send it to them to quote ASAP so when the job comes in, there is already an order on file...
i think we've finally convinced the client they are insane. they want the item sprayed with flame retardant. fire retardant that has the exact same specs as the material itself.
this is what has gone back and forth at least 20 times (not joking)
me: Here is the paperwork that shows item has...
I'm doing a SEG sign for an event in NYC. The venue isn't accepting the fire certificates on two different fabric materials i've submitted.
Have you run into this problem? The venue is asking for things that don't exsist and clearly either don't understand the flame certs or can't read.
I know of two, both of them were "independent contractors" who we would fabricate for since they didn't have their own shop.
One of them took a sign down for us to reface. Dropped it off at our location and then ghosted both us and the original client. I know they gave him a deposit, and we did...
I'd ask them if it could scale down an inch. 29" wide would suck because you need a 48" roll instead of a 30"er. The cost for 1 is probably not that big of a deal, but for 100 i'd think it would be significant enough.
who is going to suggest printing things like DOT numbers on trucks and buses? Nobody.
And since its becoming a niche product, we're actually charging more these days for cut vinyl than for printed. I'll do cut vinyl all day every day.
these don't stick to fabric, they stick to the polyester labels already on the garment.
Must be applied to garment care tags or tagless imprints inside clothing.
