  1. Short Rolls!?

What I really hate is on a lot of 3M 180c rolls the last 10-15' of the roll has little waves along the edges (edge curl?) that make it un-usable due to head strikes/collisions. I've been seeing it more and more recently. When we complain to fellers all we've gotten are some scraps that are also...
  2. Font Request

    Thank You!
  3. Font Request

What is the base font they used to create the lettering of "Colonial heights Gardens"? I have to recreate this for the bus (it was just repainted) and all I have are photos to go from.
  4. pinstripe or cut vinyl

Looks like there's 3 colors there; the black in the middle isn't the car. Pin-striping would never hold up or look good. This would be best done as an Edge print. If you have to layer vinyl then, yes you're gonna have to cut it and lay it up.
  5. Chrome Curious

We've tested it here on the owner's truck. We wrapped the tailgate about 6 months ago with the Avery Chrome. We printed on it with the Mimaki and laminated it with gloss lam. Still looks as good the day it went on. However, it didn't go on so easily with the lower tack adhesive and we didn't...
  6. Recylcled Substrates

OSB? Plywood? ;) The first sample looks nice, the 2nd (darker) one looks like crap.
  7. End of Day Help Request

yup, doing a few internet seraches end up bringing me back here again too. Thanks for the help yall, the customer agreed to a close font to avoid dealing with the added time/expense of involving the proprietary font.
  8. End of Day Help Request

Anyone have any idea what font it is? I'm going nuts here!
  9. End of Day Help Request

I've had a *fun* week so far, and at the end of a 2nd 12 hour day now... and my brain doesn't want to let me figure out any more fonts today. Can any of yall help with this one tonight while I'm taking a break? :rock-n-roll: Those outward lower T serifs and the R being so fat at the top are...
  10. I just made the biggest blunder one could make on a full wrap for a full size van

Also, I have no idea how old your Onyx/PC are that you ripped this on, but one of our two systems occasionally hiccups and doesn't print overlaps at random or does something else odd for no reason. (time to upgrade!) However, when you go back in and check it'll show where overlaps were correctly...
  11. I just made the biggest blunder one could make on a full wrap for a full size van

We have a vendor we use sometimes for larger prints than our machine can handle (and yes they are a MM on here too) that will print for just about our cost doing it here for us for a 180c/8519 combo. And we're already at the lowest price-point our vendors offer... However, we prefer the...
  12. I'm looking for someone that can print 8 1/2 x 11 decal sheets on clear vinyl

An edge is what you'd want. We have two here and they print just as much as our large format printers. they do quality precision work and print any solid color (or translucent) on clear.
  13. Purpose of printing the gutter

Well then I must be new to the printing industry, heck I've only been in it since '03 and I've never heard of a gutter besides on here... Never printed them before, don't see why you'd need to. If you have a proper color management process and know how your printers operate (and what quirks each...
  14. Precision and tracking in FC8600-160

You can add extra registration marks for larger jobs if you feel that the accuracy isn't as good as you'd like it to be, but in my experience it has been more accurate than any other plotter I've ever used for print/plot jobs.
  15. Edge Foil Streaking heat setting?

If it is 2nd surface you could always laminate it with white vinyl instead.
  16. what do you suppose is causing this?

It looks like it just printed something not on the material to me. Is is doing this all the time, or has it just made this at some point in the past? If it was just once, then I assume the software just hiccupped or you told it left justified on 60" when you actually loaded 54" in and it printed...
  17. Precision and tracking in FC8600-160

The accuracy of the FC8000s is pretty amazing for how large they cut and is comparable (or better) to any other friction-fed plotter out there. On the other hand if you really do a lot of small, precise cut vinyl lettering there is no substitute for sprocket-fed gerber plotters.
  18. china printers

Here are my thoughts on this topic: If you have a limited budget like that, I would definitely go with something that has support available. As you (should) well know support/repair costs can add up real quick. So, thinking down that direction, contact your current or other local (hopefully...
  19. Problem.....WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

X2 on the request for a full vehicle photo!
  20. Where do I get one of these? PVC Cutter? YouTube video...

Resource Imaging and/or Trigon Imaging (both in Cincinnati) both sell these cutters, so I'd assume most suppliers do. I bought one from Resource Imaging a few years ago at an old shop, it worked just like you'd expect it to for cutting PVC, etc and also made perfect cuts of rows of small decals...
