print on wrap vinyl and stick to the substrate.
  2. To Laminate or not-window perf

always lam & always edge tape
  3. Firefighter/Family logo

I don't want to sound rude, but have someone else do your logo design. I would recommend using an icon like the Maltese cross to build your artwork around. The ying-yang and bleeding cowboys are both no-nos.
  4. Fellers.........Cha cha cha changes?

Our fellers rep stops by every day, sometimes twice lol. And then there's the regular delivery guy... We order a "decent amount" and none of our other suppliers can even come close to their pricing on a few items. But, we also order a decent amount of materials from other suppliers like...
  5. Long Run on the Edge...

I've never had an issue on longer runs just because of length. Go ahead and use one of the expensive wipes before you start though. Thankfully, if you are just printing a solid black onto the signgold - black fills at 100% opacity. So, if you hit your home button to register the vinyl before...
  6. 6'x12' Trailer Wrap Price

Liquid Laminate is not what you want to laminate wraps with. It is ok if you're unable to laminate and you have some simple decals to do. I would locate another local company who will laminate your prints at a wholesale rate until you are able to purchase a laminator yourself. Also, use cast...
  7. Fellers.........Cha cha cha changes?

They told us about it, said that they just weren't certifying new companies and that only the existing certified companies will be listed on their site. They told us we had nothing to worry about and that we're still listed as fellers certified. No idea if it matters or has ever gotten us any...
  8. Machine keeps going to local mode while printing?

The problem has returned, worked fine Friday and Saturday, then had to fight it all day Sunday. Mimaki tech says PC problem. I think it is related to one of the ink cartridge "out of ink" switches; randomly it says the cart is out of ink. That causes the same condition on the printer...
  9. Machine keeps going to local mode while printing?

Clearing out all of the printed jobs from the archive seems to have fixed the problem!
  10. Machine keeps going to local mode while printing?

If you remove that magnetic clip (open the cover) while the job is printing it gives you the error "Cover Open" on the screen which you have to clear by hitting enter. This also cancels the job (removes it from the que) and you have to choose your material (roll or leaf) before you can attempt...
  11. Machine keeps going to local mode while printing?

I guess I can check all the sensor connections, but there is no error on the screen when you see it sitting there. Our covers have been bypassed to stay open and continue printing. it did this once a long time ago, and I thought a good reboot fixed it right up, but that was a year ago so my...
  12. Machine keeps going to local mode while printing?

Lowest ink level is a 5. Lever/clamp seems to be solidly in position.
  13. Cyan does not print

Pull the hose coming down from that head's cap off and park the head on the capping station. Put vacuum on the drain line and see if you get cyan or have an air leak in a line, clogged drain line, or if the cap isn't sealing.
  14. Machine keeps going to local mode while printing?

JV3-160SP keeps going to local mode during printing a job. It'll print for a while, then you walk in there and it's just sitting there back in local mode. If you press Local/Remote it will return to Remote and start printing right where it left off, but then in a while it'll be back to Local...
  15. Artwork Release fee

I would think that if a customer is not "willing and able" to pay that they would not be a customer anymore. If you are not charging enough on the front end of the job you're doing it wrong or need to reevaluate your business plan or pricing structure... Banking on potential revenue down the...
  16. Artwork Release fee

All you can really charge them for is for anything outside of the scope of previous artwork charges, or anything specifically stated in previous artwork contracts. If it was left vague, then it is a real gray area and can be hard to deal with. You can't charge someone for "potential future...
  17. Looking for Glow in the dark Vinyl

I think this was brought up a month ago, and there was no supplier found for all the different colors. I would recommend getting the Gerber Luminous punched vinyl and Edging on transparent colors to get what you're after.
  18. Shipping vehicle graphics?

Roll it up tight and put it in an appropriate sized box, no core necessary, but it does help if you have a pile of cores/ends. If you're worried about the outermost roll, put some scrap around it. Uline carries the boxes.
  19. Projecting sign bracket design

Grimco sells some prefab brackets for signs like this. Either that, or you'll need a good welder and engineer and make SURE that your mounting bolts are in solid material. You may be better off sub-contracting this job out or sending them to a reliable experienced vendor.
  20. Best way to dry ink on vinyl fast?

X2 on the latex printer, but if that isn't an option, try this thread: http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?112565-out-gassing-solvent-prints
