Hey Keith, Does Activity allow you to track jobs through the shop? That's the area we are looking for help in, and I like some other here, was not pleased with my dealings with Cyrious.

Please post pics of both the test print and that banding! We'll need that to help you diagnose the problem.

Just have him send the computer. What's it gonna cost? $30? I'm actually typing right now on a laptop that I swapped the hard drive, but here's the catch.. It's out of a computer that is *exactly* the same as this one.

The black limit still seems very low to me. Of course I'm used to Rolands, but we run 95-100% limit on black. The heat is what is making the difference for you.

What profile and media are you using? It definitely looks like a RIP issue and not mechanical. Do you have RolandColor installed? I'd get it installed and make the gradient go from BK21A to BK05A.

One of the settings is also "current document" or "selection". Make sure it is set to current document. Also, all of your design elements must be on the drawing page.

You'll want to stick with a solvent machine if you're looking to print for outdoor use.

You'll also want to periodically pause the machine and wipe away any build up ink. We had an issue once where the media stopped feeding, but the printer kept printing. After a few minutes there was so much ink sitting on the vinyl that the heads started hitting it and splashing through it...

Are you printing a vector or raster? I'd bet it is a RIP issue and not a mechanical problem with the printer. We've found a few of the profiles in Versaworks that do very odd things with gradients.

Well shoot, maybe I can afford one! I wonder what kind of problems I'd run into bringing this in from Canada.

We were having issues printing gradients, mostly from .pdf files. They would either abruptly stop (just the gradient, the rest of the image would print fine) or they wouldn't print at all (just white). We told Roland about it, and sent prints with our dealer.

I hope they can fix the gradient issues.. we're still running 2.7
