  4. Wholesale printing, charging for waste?

Keep in mind we're talking wholesale printing here. Very, very different than retail. We stock various sizes of various medias. When we print customers' jobs, we do our best to use the appropriate sized media for the job, and nest jobs as much as possible. To keep turnaround times tight and...
  5. off gassing large wraps!

Shane has some very good reasons to listen to the manufacturers. I'll try to post some pictures of what we use to dry our prints tomorrow. It's a little more involved than what most refer to, but it works great. A couple years ago, one of the mags (Sign Builder?) showed pictures of some...
  6. Sewing a banner Hem

Get a commercial machine. Try 35th Ave Sew & Vac in Phoenix. Ask for Oriel<sp>. Banner tape doesn't hold up very well and is pretty expensive. A decent machine will run in the $2-$3k range.
  7. What To Do If A Competing Business Undercuts You In Price

Jon, I value your input dearly, and agree with you whole-heartedly.. most of the time. Three years ago, I could justify a 10-20% higher cost for my products based on quality materials, excellent craftsmanship and outstanding service. Since then, I've seen a definite shift in, as Doug says...
  8. Cant print crop marks in Versaworks.

Yep, or a profile for paper, backlit, etc.. anything that's non-vinyl.
  9. Horizontal-vs-vertical panels

Absolutely, 100% vertical. The only time horizontal panels make sense is if you can do the whole thing in one whack. Registration is a nightmare with horizontal panels.. especially at 80 degrees.

  14. Window perf job.

I'd just use lam tape.. You can use your end rolls of lam, cut into 1/2" strips. Cut the perf back about a quarter inch from the rubber, and use the lam strips to make sure it stays put.
  15. Many times automatic cleaning

There is a setting for periodic cleaning you can change. Press <Menu> and scroll down to the . Under the Sub Menu you should see an option for <Periodic Cleaning>. You can change this to any interval from 10 mins to 990 minutes. I'd have it set to run once a day in most cases.
  16. Chevy truck gets 35mpg!

I love it! We've got a little feud going on out our shop right now. It started with one of our girls shrink wrapping two of the installers' cars while they were out. Last week they put pepper in her water bottle--couldn't figure out why she kept coughing. To ease the coughing she'd drink...
  17. It's official...NO Christmas cards this year.

I just had a customer walk in and order 25 decals to be placed on bottles of Crown he's handing out. The BIG bottles! :thumb:
  18. It's official...NO Christmas cards this year.

We actually received more than last year. Probably about 50 so far. Sent out about 150 cards (You're welcome Border!) along with about 120 dozen cookies and candies that my mom made. We try to personalize as much as we can, but that takes a lot of time.
