The thing about this place is that it is both a restaurant and a catering business.
The restaurant (more of a lunchroom really) has been around for over 20 years, but he wants to stress catering more.
I'm going to show him what I have, will let you know tomorrow. Thanks so much.
I'm purposely trying to make it look a little bit feminine to appeal to the brides-to-be who hire him for catering. He's OK with that.
Remember, I'm going to clean up/refine the sketch part.
I may re-work the stripey one, but I was thinking after reading Evan's comments that it might be a PITA...
Nice.
I am not a comic book person but my BF is.
He has been an avid reader/collector since childhood.
But even though he is not artistic in any way, he hates the direction that the illustrations have taken, and even he can point out the lesser effort and quality.

Pruning it down, and I really am listening.
The illustration is going to be more refined, I just wanted to nail down something to show him today.
I took away (I think) all of the gradients, made the S bigger, made the picture bigger.
:thankyou:
A few months back I started this topic about a catering logo for a guy with an odd last name.
He finally agreed to go a different route and use his first name rather than his last. I like the name now.
I also convinced him that he needs an icon of some sort, He wanted the old crossed knife...
Thanks.
I finally got it done tonight. The client is thrilled.
I know it was a rewarding experience for me.
It was kind of satisfying tonight to see a friend of my client's come in, who used to get signs from me but is now using the local hack.
Their jaw about fell on the floor when they saw...
Looks like you had a blast, Craig.
I love seeing something like this come together, just glad I'm not the coordinator.
Everything looks so nice. This was one not to miss, wish I could have been there.

OK so you did the layout to try and get the job or they hired you for the new lettering job?
You know it doesn't take much to confuse me.
It's a great job, much ballsier than the original ho-hum car.

I love the font on #2.
I'd type out S W E E T S H O P in a font like LHFEssendine or LHFSteven's Percepta Modified or Signfonts Sign Gothic and not put it in a panel.
I'd make a different cake graphic with a stylized chocolate carousel horse as the topper?
