  1. Graphtec FC8000-160 won't cut accurately

This may be obvious but at the bottom of the Cutting Master advanced panel there are X and Y offset boxes. I had accidently clicked one of those once and it drove me nuts until I finally noticed there was a number besides 0 in the X box. ON a more positive note. I've contour cut many thousands...
  2. q 100

Where is your cutting head positioned when you select rear roll or whatever? There are/were, bumper stops that prevented you manually moving the cutter head too far to the right and if it is missing and you do move it too far, you'll get the error. I'm in the same boat here and I've attempted...
  3. L26500 Carriage Rail Oiling

After owning an HP9000s for 6 years and never having to do this it was more of a concern that something serious was wrong with the machine than just being a nuisance. To ask for oiling two days after installation just seemed like a very strange situation and HP's tech was concerned enough to...
  4. L26500 Carriage Rail Oiling

I've been dealing with the same issue. Other than taking some extra time, it seems to g away after oiling the pads and the rail. Signndesigner, on the control panel, click down to the maintenance menu, than the clean and oil menu. The printhead will park out in the print area for you to do the...

  6. What do you wish you would have known when you first started screen printing?

When we first started we made a decision to print no apparel which is a choice we've never regretted. It set our shop apart from the other half dozen t-shirt shops in town along with all of the garage "businesses" and we developed a reputation of a premium product shop. Having said that, today...
  7. Cutting Mutiple Decals at one time

I use a 75 year old paper cutter, (non OSHA approved). That I can easily cut 100 sheets of vinyl at a time. I generally print 30" x 32" sheets on the roll, load then in my Graphtec to do my contour cutting. Than I hand cut them into sheets using the registration marks that were printed from...
  8. HP L26500 Buyers remorse?

Well, I'm a bit or a newbie on this one. I replaced my 6yo HP9000s with it a month or so ago. I had a couple of minor issue which HP dealt with quickly and efficiently. The print quality is excellent. In fact, the first job I ran consisted of 4 large canvas prints that I gallery wrapped. They...
  9. Lettering onto Dacron Sail Cloth

On a normal plotter cut it sloooow. Test for pressure setting first. The stuff really adheres to the backing paper and normal premask generally wont seperate it from the backing. I've used removable bumper sticker vinyl with decent results or good old 2" wide masking tape also.
  10. static cling vinyl no print nice...how come?

I agree with the shelf life but I have a yearly repeating job that I have run the leftover static a full 12 months later on my HP9000s. I suspect that the latex may react more sensitively to the plasticizer issue though. I'll find out next summer when I use the new L26500 for the first time. I...
  11. 500 decals quote?

Stouse would probably charge you for an actual die and die cut run. 500 pieces is probably a bit lite to cover those extra charges. I've run full 30" x 150' rolls of small decals, print and cut. I generally run them in 30" x 32" "pages". Cuttin master will run the whole roll page by page. Once...
  12. clear decal stock

I'm just getting familiar with my new L26500 and have a couple of clear vinyl decal orders to run. I tried the Oracal 3651G transparent, which was my go to substrate on my HP9000s. My compatibility chart recommends 3651 but I suspect that the transparent version is quite a bit different. I'm...
  13. HP Designjet 9000s????

I have a full PDF tech manual on the 9000s. Zipped it's a 9.8MB file. If your email can handle that let me know and I'll send you a copy. I also have a 9000s available for parts, minus the motherboard. I'm in michigan if anyone's interested. Just trying not to take it to the metal recyclers...
  14. Hp l26500

I'm plugging mine in Tuesday once the installer gets here. Got it from Advantage. Anyone looking for an HP9000s for a parts machine?
  15. Low Tac Vinyl

Ditto on the GF Metromark. Been running tons of election stickers on it this year.
  16. Hello to all from a Northern Michigan Newbie!

    welcome from Traverse City!
  17. Thermal vs Screen printing

I do both. Been screen printing them since 1980 and Edge since 89. I'd give the screen printed image the edge in durability but not that much. If you do a UV overcoat on the thermal prints it will get them pretty close. My decision on what to use is based on qty and number of colors, not the...
  18. static cling labels

We've screen printed on static cling for 30 years and have Edge and solvent digital printed on it as long as we've had the equipment. If you're set up to screen print flat substrates, ie. have a press and vacuum table, not an apparel setup, it's no different than any other substrate.
  19. vinyl cutter/software brands

Graphtec provides a Cutting Master plug-in for cutting directly out of Illustrator, both general vinyl and also contour cutting your printed decals.
  20. Ordered Caldera Today

I've been running it for a few weeks now and liking it very much. I installed in on a Mac Mini and am running it on my display of my MacPro using screen sharing. I set it up this way because I literally have no room for another workstation in my office. I still have a few tweaks to make but...
