Minwax makes Polycrylic, a waterbased clear. I've used it over waterbased paints before, latex and regular craft acrylic paint. I've rolled it and also ran it through an automotive gun. The gun is the best coverage, but has a bit of a blue-tint if it's too thick.

I think everyone has a similar humbling experience (at least they should have ). Mine was art school... the amount of talent that surrounded me was staggering and has taught me to be my harshest critic.
