I talked with a guy today that wanted me to illustrate his children's book. I let him know what to expect as far as price and what I have received for other publications. "Oh, I was hoping you'd do it for free" He may or may not find a publisher to publish it, he doesn't know or understand...

Nicely done! I assume the fish is for your boat market? I would have gone with a different font for "lets wrap", but it's a great use of space and color.

DITTO. Keep it simple. Design in black and white and when that looks good, mess with some color.

I have a wall of inboxes and each job jacket has it's place chronilogically in each folder... I haven't decided if it works that great yet, but so far so good. Bins are: Quote -green, waiting on quote approval -red waiting on design -red , design to do -green, waiting on approval -red, order...

If I worked for my dad, the only way he'd get me to do something like that is if he was in there with me. I don't ask anyone to do anything for me that I wouldn't do myself.

You need some breathing room, not enough negative space makes both designs too cluttery.
