  1. Best Reflective Technique

How many are you doing? 3M has translucent inks (880i) that are made just for this, but they are intended for screening and it isn't logical to do this for a short run. However, I have got to ask...How is it that you just got done selling these road signs and just now "realized" how much the...

Yeah - I agree with ThinkRight...That or else use some delineators (3' - 4' long orange traffic posts - There are what we use when we setup our crane) with "Danger" tape stretched across.....
  8. Cannot open port error!!!

I had similar issues about 3 months ago - is your plotter connected via USB or serial cable? Also - what kind of plotter is it? This was SO FRUSTRATING when we just experienced this.
  9. Flamed edge or polished on Acrylic

We do this quite a bit here. And as other here have mentioned, make your original cts as straight as possible. We then sand it with 80 grit, then 120. Then flame polish it with either pure oxygen or with a small butane torch. Just let the flames 'lick' the acrylic to prevent bubbling. and then...
  10. Logo critique

Not trying to be rude - and this is TOTALLY up for debate - but when I see a 'P' in a circle MY mind goes directly to a "Parking" mentality. As for the rest I really like it. Nice effect on the drop shadowing though, so long as it is a deep enough gray to be visible. I also agree with the above...

  14. S\Help sawing rolls of lam and adhesive in half

I didn't read all the posts - but we have had success cutting them on the shop saw or band saw and then sanding the cut edges, very briefly and without over overaggressive, with 40-80 grit sandpaper to remove some of the adhesives that build up on the cut side. Hope this helps!

  17. Cold weather glass installation...help

And as wedosigns said, spray down the transfer tape after application to break down the adhesive if you are still having problems peeling the tape.
  18. Cold weather glass installation...help

I used to do a lot of install in Alaska in temps down to about -10 degrees, and we found that placing a space heater on the opposite side of the glass works quite well. Obviously this only really works if putting the graphics on the first surface and heat the second - otherwise the heater can't...
  19. Desktop Printer For Proofing.

We use a Brother 6490CW and LOVE it. Its a multi-use machine so that can be good. But the really nice features is that it will scan and print up to 11" x 17" (Tabloid). Good quality prints too, I think. Separate color cartridges too, which I think is pretty nice. The price is right too at...
  20. File Names

Yep - I still use the underscore too. I usually name my files like this: C/Customer Store Name/Yard Signs/Proposal_013012.cdr - That way the date, customer and job type is all right there. The downfall here though is looking up recent files I have opened because they are all named...
