Thanks, these were installed in the summer if I remember correctly. and the cracks are closer to 1/2" wide in some places! Just to keep everyone updated, the supplier has sent someone down to take a small sample from the sign for testing, I guess they will decide what to do after that.

not familiar with that machine, but what we do is print and wait 5 minutes untill the media is long enough to reach the roll, and tape it on, no waste. but if the media has to be attached to the take up roll before the print starts, maybe some banner material fastened to a core will work?

any of the royalty free photo sites out there should work, istockphoto.com is the first one that comes to mind.

I still think you would do well with wholesale in Canada, keep in mind we don't have easy access to these massive companies like they do in the US, shipping and brokerage usually kill the deal.

my experience with photo tex is that it cuts horribly, especially in corners. I think I remember reading on here about someone that uses vaseline or something similar on the surface before applying the lettering to make it removable, i would test this first.

I agree with you, in the end you have to set clear expectations of what your fee of $xxx gets the client. the prime example I can think of is a small business owner comes in to get their truck lettered/new sign, they hand you a business card with their name in Times new Roman and tell you...

Bonjour! we have this issue sometimes on our machine, is the printer is a controlled environment (humidity, temperature)? if you are in a bind and need to get a job out the door, I have run in uni-directional high quality before and it goes away, but it's painfully slow!

Just have the client sign off that they own the design, you can't be expected to research every logo that comes into your shop. Obviously companies like Nike, Coca-Cola etc are different, but how are you supposed to know if Bob's Plumbing owns the rights to his logo if he supplies it to you?

we've had 2 roland SP models over the last 6 years, a 30 inch and now a 54, both have been rock solid machines. We don't print a ton, average about 10 hours a week, but when we do have a job that requires it to be running non stop for a week or 2, it's never given us any problems. it's slow...

yes it was put on with premask, so i don't think it stretched at all. the part that annoys me most is that I didn't try to save a few bucks and use a crappy vinyl, I used the proper material for the job (at $20 a yard it better last!) and i still have to put out the money to replace it!

it looks like avery Ultra-Gold SC 900219 M, Oracal has nothing with that much shimmer, the only one that is close in my book is Universal brand Ultra-Metalic Gold

the vinyl was kpmf, it's a UK based company, we've never had an issue with it before.
