i've got a project from an old client that i'm just too slammed to do. is there anyone in the houston area that wants to do something similar the prelim's attached. i believe it was supposed to be around 2 x 4 feet. adding some color later on. you can have it no finders fee etc. thanks artbot
  2. CJV30 upgrade with silver

my supplier has a print produced by roland to promote silver in on their wall. from five feet away, you can hardly tell it's got silver ink in it. before getting too excited about the silver i'd get a sample. it's not very eye catching. the particles are too small to catch light and it just...
  3. Need some input please

the red gradients over white look pink with a squint test. i prefer the right one but without the red shadow. i'd clean that one (make it more boring) and you're done.
  4. Is anyone using 3rd party ink for jv3

triangle... my printer give me less fits on the triangle. think it has slightly slower drying time compared to SS2 so the caps/wiper don't dry out as easily. plus the yellow and the magenta are way more vibrant. the mimaki yellow is more golden. triangle yellow is YELLOOOOOWWW!
  5. Silver and Gold ink

there's no need for "gold" ink. just print dark yellow on top of silver. all golds and other colors/metallic in manufacturing are silver with transparent color applied over the silver.
  6. Saving as AI

eps and you'll be fine. the ai hangs sometimes if your file is very complex.
  7. Firmware jv3-130spii

also post this on the yahoo jv3 group.
  8. Band Logo

that looks pretty sweet. good job. the translucent ribbon might be distracting from it. but seriously. there's a lot of a bad design out there. and this is a good design. very professional.
  9. Starting a sign installation company

+ custom grafx a close up of a project says nothing of the design/marketing/location/vendor etc. i would not want an employee showing one of my pieces in his/her portfolio. but if the business was for metal polishing or some specific service. how could an employer be against a close up of...

i need an experienced installer or referral for a wall wrap in plano texas. the install would be around the 14-16th of this month. the material is korographics the kind that glues up like wallpaper. the wall (wraps around a corner) is 44' x 82", the details are in the attachments to this...
  11. MY LITTLE DOG ATE A BAG OF CHOCOLATE CANDY!!!!! i'm terrified!

my maltipoo ate a whole box of dark chocolate zone bars once. no problem. although chocolate is bad for dogs, from what i've heard, it's long term exposure to chocolate that is truly bad.
  12. Sign printer VS Canon 8300 printer ?s

well, i've been around a good bit and for my personal sensibilities, any manufacturer that tells you that their beautiful inks are pigmented yet only last 6-8 months is using the word pigmented as more of a marketing term than a chemical description. lysonic (archival dye, mildly pigmented)...
  13. Intellectual Property and Copyright Theft In Our Industry.

food for thought on this subject compared to other industries and the rest of the world. http://www.youtube.com/user/tedtalksdirector?blend=1&ob=4#p/search/6/zL2FOrx41N0
  14. A Better substrate mover....

i am gonna make me some thingamajigees! as for the panel saw. forget that ancient behemoth. a festool track saw is the real game changer. and it cuts a lot lot lot lot better. perfect zero splinter butter smooth cuts, portable, insane accuracy, angles, easy to set stops, can cut 4 sheets of...
  15. need resolution advice on wall wrap

it will be flattened with it's finished. until then, the artwork will be on as many/few layers as needed. it's a 4gigs right now and working fine. it was a corrupted file. my computer really doesn't bog down until i get above 6gigs.
  16. need resolution advice on wall wrap

thanks! and thanks for the advice. i do think the 100dpi will be best for how close and constantly the piece will be scrutinized. as for the raid. is it 2tb because that was just the drives you purchased (i'm assuming they are dedicated/no saving files, etc), or does photoshop need that much...
  17. HP L25500 vs Mimaki JV33

well that is what i read. triangle biosolvent inks are swappable with triangle solvent. http://www.inxdigital.com/sell_sheet/BVJ_21.pdf
  18. need resolution advice on wall wrap

i got some bits and pieces. the base image is from a proposed restaurant proposal (calligraphic pen work from corel)... that files been tossed and rasterized. grrrr... i even backed it up (a backed up corrupted file that also crashes) it will be an interesting week. i figure if i don't eat...
  19. need resolution advice on wall wrap

update: reason for insanely slow performance was a corrupted file. did memtests for hours, did every arrangement of scratch disks. a "mock" file of the same dimensions works fine. the project file bogs down then crashes the computer.
  20. Sign printer VS Canon 8300 printer ?s

i thought 6-8 month longevity was dye only. lysonic dye ink is archival.
