Welcome to the forum. I45 Signs is in Houston and does dtg shirts. Didn't see them in the merchant member directory, but they used to be one. I've used them for screen printed coro signs and been very happy. i45signs.com
100k in large format billing is more than enough to justify the purchase. Large format isn't that different than pre-press for offset. My 5 year old RIP computer for my platesetter is the same I use to run Flexi for my Mutoh, at the same time. I'd love for it to be faster, but it more than works...
If it's the same system came through North AZ couple days ago, look out. Got snowed in for the first time in my life. Felt guilty as hell not working..
Thanks for the Stevie Ray!
Do a search on the forum for wind slits in banners, most don't like them. Cutting holes in material to prevent it from tearing.. Many believe it is better to just leave the material whole and intact. Up against the building, there is a lot less wind to flow through the slits anyway so I'd never...
I know that wind! We use 13oz and it holds just fine. The pre-grommeted material comes stitched which helps. We also stay away from the flourescents, but a banner is intended to be a temporary sign so if you educate the customer on that and the customer is reasonable, you should be ok there.
You location says ON? Ontario Canada? Would likely cause a difference in pricing. 1204 is the 48" printer, right? Signwarehouse use to have their 48" machine right around 10k brand new with a longer warranty. They are a Merchant Member on S101 too. Might check there.
Have you tried dialing with the 1-area code-number? We've discovered a lot of people using google voice or out of the immediate area cell phone providers have this challenge. People think here in Northern AZ that they have a 928 area code you don't have to do the 1-area code thing, but some...
Brand new they're only a couple grand: http://www.uprinx.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=180
I'd make him show me it worked and negotiate with him down on price. I'd love one.
Easiest would be a handfed Chandler and Price or C&P letterpress. You can find several on: http://www.briarpress.org/classifieds
I'm in Northern AZ and getting rid of my old Miehle press I was going to set up for die-cutting. Don't print the project any more that I bought the machine for. It...
The zoom in X5 drives me nuts. The latest patch that was listed in this thread: http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89924 seemed to improve it some, but it still isn't as good as X3.
On the waste tray, I just took the pad out. Tray still fills up and gets emptied with no splash or issues at all. Could throw a cotton pad in there if it makes you feel better, but not necessary IMO.
If you're looking at one of their print/laminator/cutter packages, ask about up-sizing the cutter. I waste a lot of material because the 48" printer came with a 42" cutter. Drives me nuts and wastes a lot of time making sure my contour cut jobs will fit.
