  1. Laminate Roll Width compared to Media Roll Width

So what if you use Kraft paper, and it skews. You STILL have to trim off the excess laminate before you run on the plotter, or even attempt to roll up the laminated vinyl. So no one is over thinking anything. Trying to solve a common problem.
  2. Printed adhesive vinyl for me masking...

I'm not understanding your question - you want a different vinyl that has a backing paper that tape will stick to? Most backers are slick, nothing is going to really stick to backing paper. And you didn't specify what Oracal you use.
  3. Best Etched Vinyl

+1 for Oracal 8510. I can almost apply that stuff dry with no issues, but still for good measure use rapid tac.
  4. New Machine Purchase coming soon, but which one?

I would begin by evaluating what type of printer you need to accommodate the extra work a new printer will handle. Is the bulk of your work decals? Car wraps? Other printed vinyls? Do you do a lot of mounting of prints to coro, or other substrates? Maybe a flatbed is what you need if you do a...
  5. Plotter Question Skewed..

That's why I use manual bomb sight alignment. perfect about 99% of the time, even on really small stuff.
  6. Laminate Roll Width compared to Media Roll Width

A whole thread happened on this topic not long ago, and I'll say it again...I think ALL laminates should be 1/2" to 1" less than the media width, so there is room for skewing and no need to trim off excess laminate before you contour cut or mount the print. But they cut them to same width...
  7. What's the best material for a shaped aluminum sign

Doesn't say size, but I assume fairly large. 1/8" Aluminum, CNC routed and then powdercoated.
  8. Problems with coroplast

    a. Seems others agree those were STUPID comparisons b. I had no complaint to begin with.
  9. Problems with coroplast

Your comparisons make no sense. Some of us like to put out a quality product, whether it is a coro sign or a 1/2" thick acrylic lobby sign, and we expect our materials we buy to be usable. I get lots of coro, foamcore, even MDO that is so warped it's ridiculous. Maybe you are ok with crappy...
  10. Font ID please

    Nice call...that worked!
  11. Need a 3 inch diameter by 65 inch empty core for Take up reel

Or, you could tape 2 together. Half of my takeup tubes are 2 taped together.
  12. Font ID please

    WTF yielded no results.
  13. Need a 3 inch diameter by 65 inch empty core for Take up reel

    Tape 2 shorter ones together.
  14. Advice on which optically clear to use

Many people can't get around the fact "it's a laminate". I think most times it is better than any clear print vinyl, like the Oracal 3620, which often has a muddy appearance, and not crystal clear.
  15. Advice on which optically clear to use

I've done it many times. We make lots of clear acrylic wall signs with tiny black text and we mirror print on 290F, apply to back side of acrylic.
  16. Advice on which optically clear to use

    Oracal 290 F
  17. lime green CMYK value in flexisign?

    Seriously?
  18. Cutter Issues

ALL FIXED. Took the whole top cover of the plotter off, exposing the entire carriage and the rail. The carriage has a bracket on the top where the top rollers attach. There are 4 screws holding the rollers, and I loosened those, pushed the bracket and rollers down, and re-tightened the screws. I...
  19. Cutter Issues

The track is one piece, so the wheels ride across the top and bottom of it. The wheels have no slack to them, and the bearings seem fine, as they all roll smoothly. But hard to tell without tearing in to this more and taking the carriage completely off. At least now I know this movement is not...
