  1. Heater not working on JV3-160s

I would take the fuse out and get a new one, with the same rating. RadioShack may have it. If printer is fine after that, I would not worry about it, as sometimes fuses do go bad without something being damaged. If the new one also fails- call a tech to have the heater replaced or fixed...
  2. default setting changed on my JV3

And now- please confirm that your date is way off? And that your expired cartridges will work? :beer
  3. Problems with JV3

    Are you up printing again?
  4. JV3 Trouble

If Cyan is the only one not pumping, the line from the capping station to the pump may be blocked. (Or the cyan head may be blocked, what's your setup?) Push the head out with power out, put some cleaning fluid in the cap and see if it disappears. If not, the line is blocked. Now, if it...
  5. JV3 Trouble

I am not sure how to get out of it, but I know how to trick the printer into running the purge / clean cycle without using ink... Open the back of the printer and unscrew the pumps- then only the pump motors will turn, and no ink will be pumped. When it asks for cleaning cartridges, just...
  6. Ink Smearing

We are getting better prints now with lower heat setting, 40 deg caused vinyl to buckle, ever so slightly, causing banding and sometimes head strikes. Does not help to tighten the take-up, as the waves go across. The media expands with heat, and it has nowhere to go except up. Try 30 deg. C...
  7. default setting changed on my JV3

Silly me, but I thought this was normal???
  8. Aligning heads

It's in the manual, download it from the Yahoo mimaki-forum. If it's after a head change, it may be fine without aligning, according to our dealer...
  9. Ink expiration dates

And to Fieldcenter: There are chips on the market that renew themselves every time you power up the printer. Why should we the users buy 1 liter chips? No offence, I am sure your products are great, but it would really suck having to buy new chips all the time. Please explain...
  10. Ink expiration dates

To MachServTech You state you have replaced heads due to "pigment falling out"... What type printer, and which inks? Throwing out a statement like that justifies more of an explanation, as I am not the only one running inks more than a year out of date with no heads blocked. Has anyone here...
  11. Ink expiration dates

Yes you can, but then your other cartridge will not work. It is the chip that "remembers how much ink you have used. Do the battery reset, you will not regret it, I do not recommend resettable chips as long as you are running original inks, due to nice having warnings when cartridge is empty.
  12. time limit readout for K ink?

It will for a while. Search this forum to find out how to reset the date so you will not have to worry 'bout this.
  13. Ink expiration dates

Search this forum for directions on how to remove the battery and reset the printer to show 01012005 in the date. Then you will not have to worry about expiration dates anymore. I've done it, and have helped others, with no problems whatsoever.
  14. Help Shipping

Get in your van and go pick it up. It's only a 48 hr drive:-) Saves you a ton.
  15. Can't hit my color

Try turning off color correction, then specifying the 0-0-100-0 and going from there, with spot color. We have done this with success a couple of times. If the color correction is on it is harder to fool the rip, as it still uses all colors for 100%Y.
  16. JV-33 out of date inks

We are now running ink that is 12-14 months out of date, with no problem at all. Having the date of the machine set at 2006 has caused no problems what so ever I would not recommend running with chips that don't tell you when ink is used up, as it is a hassle to have to remove and weigh...
  17. JV-33 out of date inks

It works on JV3. If it works on JV5, it should work on the JV33 also. Call Mimaki and ask:Big Laugh I believe the JV33 uses much the same components and technology as the JV5. Can't hurt to try though, as the only thing you lose are some of your own settings... Post the result and how to...
  18. The Ultimate Guide to Fixing Banding!

We are mostly printing on Oracal 3164. Anyone else having problems with it? And how do we know what's the right temperature? No head strikes?
  19. Ink Every Where!?

Just to confirm- If the capping station does not hold on to the cleaning fluid, then the pumps are bad? Wanted to do a wash the other day but capping station would not hold fluid...
