Bad test prints, with many lines missing, that you can't get fixed I guess.

If you want the capping station to hold cleaning fluid, turn off the printer, then turn it on untill you hear the pumps start clicking, then turn it off using the switch in the back... The pumps are now active, sealed, and the caps will not leak out the cleaning fluid. Or use the head wash...

To check if the cartridge is empty, you need to weigh it. Less than 400 grams is empty on a 400cc cartridge. The chip telling amount left still works after battery reset, but if you have screwed with using syringe to suck ink etc, the chip will not know how much ink you have consumed...

Just steal one of your wife's panty hoses , pour the ink down, collect in a bucket, syringe it back into the cartridge, and buy a chip- new color is "Almostblack" :clapping:

Ours had some paper in the switch when we got it from the dealer... The cover is a nice bookshelf :-)

Sounds like silicone... (fisheye in auto paint lingo) If that's the case it's nothing to do with the printer, but contaminated media. Have you tried a different media?

You're only getting half the black ink you should, I assume you are running dual CMYK? If so, half the black print head is plugged, if you had a 6-color printer, there would have been black and a different color in this head. Have you tried to soak the heads with cleaning solution? May be...

They have the service (or maintenance, don't remember) manual for the JV3160. Same thing.

If you unplug (from the wall) the printer, just when the pumping starts, you are simulating the pumps to not leak out the fluid... When the pumps are turning "forward", they are sealed. when pumping is done, the pumps turn "backwards" for a bit, which releases the squeeze on the silicone...

I don't think it matters that they're hard, ours are also 10 years old, on a T-140, still works fine. Flat-spots is another story- how about boiling one in water and see if it regains its shape? Can't hurt, and if it does not, you still have to buy a new one...

Sucking works fine, as long as you use a long hose that you can see when the ink comes... With a short hose and not being able to see... It does not taste like :beer I feel I have better control with sucking by mouth than syringe.
