  1. Question on New JV33

Hi. We use SS2 in our JV3. I think it's about the same as SS21, but correct me if I'm wrong. It's stronger than the Eco Sols. If you have a fingerprint on the media, it will be enough for the SS2 ink not to "stick", but probably worse with eco. Aftermarket inks like Triangle, don't care...
  2. Question on New JV33

I agree- forget white. We had it in our JV3. It's something that probably will be used only a few times / year, and the printer sucks throught the cartridge at an alarming rate, maybe 2 months full to empty. That's one heck of a cost before even printing anything! That, in addition to the...
  3. edge to edge print

Helluvan idea to trick the Mimaki into printing full bleed! Like it! Some media don't like being cut and will fray... Anyway; how about gluing down a piece of vinyl on each side and slightly under the banner, to keep ink from getting on the platen? We have our margins set to the lowest...
  4. Ink dates!

To iSign: Maybe it's pennypinching, but it works, and I have not had any print heads clogging, even with ink more than a year out of date. Ink has been stored at regular room temperature, never in 100 deg temperature. I have shook the older cartridges pretty well before installing, just to be...
  5. Ink dates!

Do the battery remove-replace-procedure, guys! No more worrying about the date on the cartridges. It works, and is a 15 minute job, tops.
  6. Reflective on JV3

I guess most reflective is not meant to be brinted on. To get a good result, I believe you depend on the ink to partially dissolve the media you are printing on. The stronger the solvent, the better the ink dissolves the media, ie the ink goes deeper. SS2 ink is low solvent, and dissolves...
  7. JV3 cartridge chips - question

They cost more. I already asked...
  8. Bulk Ink For Mimaki

And Fieldcenter- I am sure your product is great; but a 3 day warranty?? Come on, make it 3 weeks, or 30 days, then the customer knows you are serious! There is no way to get the package, install it then be either satisfied or unsatisfied in only 3 days. You don't even have enough time to...
  9. Reflective Vinyl

Just try with whatever profile works for regular vinyl. Not like it's going to be photo quality on reflective anyway, as the reflective will bleed through. Works great though!
  10. bad test draw

I just got a PM from Skasigns stating all was fine after changing the damper... WOW!
  11. mimaki jv3 end ink issue

Glad it worked! Anyway, not surprised... A guy was having a bit of a problem getting the battery out, some kind of clip holding it in, I don't remember exactly how to get it out, as I did this 1.5 years ago. Can you add to the other thread, how to get the battery out? :beer
  12. mimaki jv3 end ink issue

You can reset the date in your printer to allow using the cartridge after the date on the cartridge, by removing and replacing the memory battery. Search this forom for how-to. Then you will never have a problem with the date again.
  13. What Causes This?????

We had this problem on our Mimaki, were going nuts! Anyway, found that the media was buckling slightly, almost hitting the head, causing light stripes. So- we raised the head height and turned down the heat a lot, to around 30 deg. C pre and print, the media does not buckle anymore, and no...
  14. bad test draw

Hi. Thanks for your thanks re the battery! Ive seen this a few times after near empty cartridges with the printer not running cleaning cycles. We have gotten them all back with strong cleanings; just make sure to only clean head 3 and 4 to not waste too much ink.
  15. How to: Use expired ink cartridges in JV3

I of course have to add: If you do screw up your printer, I will not pay for the repair. You're on your own  It has not been critical for us that it has not done its cycles due to low; but nozzles have been dropping out causing bad prints. These have been restored by changing the...
  16. How to: Use expired ink cartridges in JV3

I have been getting a few inquiries how to reset the date in JV3's, to enable using up all the ink. Many users are frustrated by having to replace their cartridges before empty, due to date expiration. This is not necessary. Also, we always "add 30 cc" when printer says "near end"...
  17. old ink

If you have a JV3, remove and replace the battery, no more problem... PM me or search this forum on how to do it.
  18. Mimaki/Onyx question

Our Mimaki prints Magenta heavy with standard profiles, Both in FlexiSign and Rasterlink, so we just reduce Magenta in the rip, usually just specify 80% magenta, other colors 100%, and everything is pretty OK. Hope this helps?
  19. Ink expiration dates

To InkSigns: Welcome! Glad it worked for you! Hope you got the email I sent in reply to yours. Of course- your battery MAY be bad, since you have relocated the printer and it is a few years old. I would not worry about taking out the battery completely, not much of a chance to ruin...
