  1. mining for gold. second time around.

My guess is that there's going to be a second group of people to follow. There's only so much entertainment you can drag out of Todd and his dad filling the heads of a bunch of maroons about how close they are to being rich beyond their wildest dreams....day after day after day. So far the...
  2. Table tent material

I don't know if there's heat involved but a couple of weeks ago I noticed the ones at a restaurant we were at were direct printed to very thin styrene and folded just like standard chip board tents.
  3. saying goodbye

When we go to Australia next winter I want to go ahead and go on the record as saying I know nothing about that poop somebody took right outside your front door.
  4. Anyone have trouble contacting Merritt?

Damn Mike, you're starting to sound like Roger Bailey.
  5. saying goodbye

Ahhhh....I've always loved that excuse. That means that if I show up at your house, drop my drawers and crap on your front porch you can't stop me because the act is performance art and the final product is my creation. John, I think you need to pull the corn cob out of your butt and get over it.
  6. sidewalk sign

No....if you're setting up and screen printing quantities of signs it means a whole lot more work than "click one button".
  7. Your first computerized signs....

I started working here in 1992. The owners had a price sheet for vinyl lettering based on size and he sold the heck out of ready to apply lettering. Here we are 20 years later, I'm using the same price list, and I rarely sell any RTA vinyl because people say I'm too high. (by the way, the...
  8. Camp sign

Yep, too much happening and no central focal point.
  9. Camp sign

Ummm...not to step on your toes or anything but I was playing with it while eating lunch. I wasn't going to post it but since you asked about the font...
  10. Camp sign

The gradient at the bottom looks really out of place with everything else being in spot colors. Personally I'd have gone without the images, or just used one well chosen image, so I could put the focus on the name of the camp (which I'd have done larger and in a different font)
  11. sidewalk sign

  12. Your first computerized signs....

Had to look up a job for a customer today that was so old I thought we'd done in back in the Gerber 4B days. That got me to wondering what the oldest sign jobs I've got saved were. I still remember the very first sign I made when we got our first computer with a screen but it wasn't backed up...
  13. Strangest Client Request

That's an easy one to handle.....it all starts with you saying "Sir, our new policy does require that we get paid 100% up front...." :ROFLMAO:
  14. Plotter Recommendation

No you don't. Toss the Roland out of the equation. Go with a Summa or a Graphtec.
  15. How do you deal with excess vinyl?

Apparently Bob's thesaurus doesn't teach vinyl application.
  16. Photoshop Sneak Peak - Deblur

That's just bizarre. Be nice if they'd actually commit to releasing it.
  17. Career choice stress

Find something you love, figure out how to make money with it, and use that money to live a life you can look back on. Leave the house, expand your horizons, try new things, eat different foods. Don't wait, do it now. It will never be easier. Don't say you don't have the time or the...
  18. I guess they will wrap just about anything now days!

Because nobody is going to pay $50 for "printed stickers" when they can spend $50 for "PLATINUM GRADE" vinyl. Marketing is everything.
  19. Build a Font

Creating the quick version of the font is not that big a deal. You just create all the letterforms and plug them in aligned on the baseline. Fixing all the kerning is where the hard part will come in. For something you're rarely going to use it's much simpler to just make the dirty version...
  20. Juice?

Damn...how many of those little bottles does it take to make 1/2 cup of liquid smoke?
