  1. Q54 Cutting Problem

I have had this issue for a few months now, where all my cuts are not square/straight, as in clean crisp text.....the most noticable is on smaller text, 1" or less. I do notice it on bigger text, but it seems worse on smaller text. Any ideas what is going on? I have changed blades, blade...
  2. This font?

Most likely not a font. Custom logo.
  3. 3M ControlTac, screen printed with liquid lam?

You are correct...I always confuse the 2.
  4. 3M ControlTac, screen printed with liquid lam?

It isn't Controltac if it isn't air release. And the laminate makes no difference in installation...liquid will be thinner and harder to apply the vinyl, but it is possible. I installed many Safety Kleen vans where they provided the graphics and it was Controltac with liquid lam. Albeit it was...
  5. Graphtec Print and Cut Issue

Sorta true...I have found cheap intermediates with real thin liners warp bad. I switched to all 3M intermediates (IJ35 and 35C mostly) and they have thicker liners , like 90# paper, that don't warp as bad or at all. Worst was Oracal 3164, 3640 and a few others. So not so much the vinyl as it is...
  6. Cutting Mat & Grommet Machine

Print the grid on vinyl on your printer, lay on table, cover with mat.
  7. Special Matte Laminate

I like the look of Oracal 210 Semi-Gloss....it's kinda matte without the textury finish, with a slight hint of gloss.
  8. What Upcoming Print Technologies Are You Interested In?

Waiting for the "Car Wash" type vehicle printer. Spray on car wrap like driving through an automated car wash. Some day....
  9. Banner material on Latex HP 260 - Someone tell me what i am doing wrong.

I run all BeBanner on 8 pass, bi-directional 600, low ink. 10 or 12 pass takes too long and frankly most banners don't need to be run that high. I think even a lot of people run 6 pass for banners, but I seem to get some banding at that low.
  10. Banner material on Latex HP 260 - Someone tell me what i am doing wrong.

Yep....there's been whole threads on this....Ultraflex is crap for Latex. BeBanner works awesome, as well as Advantage's Optima banners (probably the same manufacturer).
  11. Question on new MB Sprinters

Just wrap over it, after brushing the seal with 3M Primer 94. It will help keep it stuck on there.
  12. Secondary backup drive in case of hard drive failure

We use Backblaze, online backup. Works great. Don't know the cost, but it has saved our butt many times. Especially if you overwrite a file you didn't mean to...just log on, find the previous saved file, and download it. We could lose the entire customer files drive here and download it all to a...
  13. Question on an install technique

Guess I didn't realize it was cut vinyl...in that case you CAN tape a hinge horizontally across the top, then cut vertical strips and lay pieces at a time. This is especially beneficial if you only have one set of hands installing a big graphic. Obviously, this won't work for a large decal, or...
  14. easiest clear vinyl you can see through

First you say 'clear', then you say you need a 'tint'. Not sure what you're looking for. For clear, just use Oracal 290F or 3M 8514....they are laminates but work for vinyl too.
  15. colored outdoor insert?

Just a single color? Translucent, colored acrylic would be good.
  16. Etched window vinyl, with printing shapes to be viewed from outside

That's KINDA what I just said. Great idea. ;0
  17. Etched window vinyl, with printing shapes to be viewed from outside

Assuming these windows are not tinted, and you're installing inside to view from outside, you could definitely print on to etch. But if they want a more solid purple, just reverse cut out the purple shapes, install etch first, and drop in purple shapes. Either with an slight overlap, or you can...
  18. What the Font?

More than likely hand painted. I would just play with a Signpainter font and make it look similar.
  19. What's the secret to apply Vinyl on 10mm Coroplast

I use a laminator, for 4mm, 10mm, PVC, etc. etc. Never have had an issue.
