Since you're just screwing it to a wall then yeah it doesn't need to be any thicker than that. 3mm dibond is exactly what I'd use.

I made the switch to matte vinyl last year as a result of other people suggesting on this forum. I've been very happy I did. I usually laminate with glossy but the matte vinyl just prints so much better. I don't have to worry about the occasional specks of dust ruining the print.

You seem to be confusing DPI with PPI. I'd think you're probably printing closer to 720 dpi, but the art may be 75 ppi. Might I suggest: http://bit.ly/A9TkBN

I'm having a great winter but mostly chalking that up to the warmer than average temperatures.

If it really is all vector then it's either masked or grouped. Select all and unmask/ungroup all should fix it unless it's a raster image.
