Not to sound pissy but did you read what I wrote? I already said I'm going to switch, I was just checking to see if that's going to solve the problem or if other vinyls do that too. Unfortunately he didn't ever get anything better so I have nothing else to compare it to.
The guy who I bought my shop from (and used to work for) was using some cheap generic vinyl from his supplier which would shrink and then have about 1/8" of the gray adhesive showing all the way around the graphic.
Now I know many other vinyls use gray adhesive, and I'm curious if they have...
Aww no fair I didn't get the DVD with mine, just a piece of paper with instructions.
But seriously the BS is amazing in my opinion. I've only had it maybe two months but it's saved so much labor and money already. I still get excited when I get to use it just remembering what a pain the job...
A potential customer called and asked for a quote on a changeable letter sign. He already has one but it's old and has a hole in one of the faces. It's a 3'x4' sign with 4 rows of 7" letters.
Who would you guys recommend for purchasing a new face with the tracks?
On my roof there are two frames meant for 4'x'12' signs. The neighboring buildings also have the same frame with what I'm pretty sure is just one big sheet, no seams. I haven't gone up to look and see what they're made out of yet.
Who can I contact to get something like dibond in this size...
Yeah I guess I probably went overboard. I had too much fun screwing around with different effects and ended up something ineffective. Though I must say 9surf sure does pull it off with a million effects lol.
Wow nice stuff. How would you suggest I go about finding other people's work to study? Just google graphic designers or do you have a list somewhere? I think I can get a lot of good inspiration out of that.
Just remembered a problem I ran into: the prismatic effect isn't perfect since I just eyeballed everything.
Someone in an old post on here was talking about how to find the center line of the text using a 1 step blend. Is anyone able to give a good explanation of how this is done for a noob...
Ah yeah, the kerning does need some adjusting. I forgot about that. It crossed my mind once but I never did get back to it. Prolly should done that in the very beginning.
Soo I've just been playing around trying out different techniques to improve my designing skill. This is my first time doing prismatic text (hand-drawn) and I rarely have time to mess around with all the different effects. I already have a logo I'm happy with, this was just for fun/learning...
Would that actually work? I thought you would need the adhesive side of the vinyl to be black. Also, if it was cut well I'd think weeding would in fact be easy...don't weed each dot, just peel away the vinyl and leave the dots on the liner.
I've been trying to decide what I should buy to prep vehicles. I've seen people mention rapid prep, xylene, prep sol, denatured alcohol, and several others. Is it all just personal preference or are different solvents better for different things?
