  1. How long have you been on here?

i'm also guilty pickin' on noobs. Had to dig deep for the thread that inspired my avatar a decade ago :p https://www.signs101.com/threads/thoughts.82477/
  2. Where Do I Get Vinyls That Look Have Abalone Shell, Pearl, Beautiful Colored Minerals Printed?

teckwrap craft vinyl is proly your best bet. they make the short rolls for CriCut users that you can find on amazon/craftstores. I wouldn't trust such things for exterior use, but there's a lotta fun stuff in their finishes. huuuge fan of 3M DiNoc but they mostly have architectural finishes...
  3. How long have you been on here?

been here long enough to remember the political threads getting banned on here
  4. Surfacing MDF Spoil board issue

nah, i don't tape for the sake of surfacing. i surface one side of my new boards before removing the old ones, and then carpet tape that side-down before finishing with a surfacing of the 2nd side that will be my table top. I've heard people use nylon screws, but i've always just used tape...
  5. Chatter in CNC routing program

that's most likely a resolution issue within the program, as its trying to render 3D detail. Like in 2D software showing you a line at a slight angle, and its a million microsteps on the screen but cuts your straight line on the machine.
  6. Can anyone do fine printing?

ya it'd have to be a solvent printer for sure & post-process the shrinkage on a whachamajigger.
  7. Surfacing MDF Spoil board issue

whenever I replace my MDF spoilboard, i surface one side of the panels to be replaced and tack that side-down in place of the old spoilboard onto my bed with carpet tape (keeps from sliding around when vacuum is off). I then machine the opposite side after securing it to my table. Huuuuuge...
  8. ISO 60in inexpensive bond paper with 3in core

https://grimco.com/Catalog/Product/KRAFT5060 saw this today & figured i'd update the thread. its brown kraft paper, but <$100 for 500ft of 60" its pretty damn good.
  9. Need Help Any Suggestions on Laminators

my Seal laminator has been kicking ass for a decade now. I would definitely go with them again when we need a new one. i have a CWT worktable, but i wouldn't rely on it for lamination. I've done it, but we mostly use the table for cutting graphics and those blademarks in the surface sometimes...
  10. Can anyone do fine printing?

would be cool if there was a media intended for this. like when you draw on a piece of expanded plastic, and then heat it in the oven to make it shrink ....can totally get some fine detail into decorations with a fat sharpie, so why not a wideformat printer?
  11. Considering hiring a full-time salesperson. Any advice?

i believe we do salary with commission that starts paying out after they cover their draw. As stated above, if production cannot keep up with their sales then its a tough spot to put them in ...which is a GREAT problem to have, but that just means you start raising rates to cover production...
  12. laser engraved clear glass painted in logo

crap, i mindlessly started ranting about my experiences with chemical etching on metal, no experiences with glass etching here. :(
  13. Need Help

halo-illuminated letters only offer a subtle illumination on a darker colored background to combat this, like that photo, some people just add another layer of aluminum painted a brighter color or vinyl applied to the background prior to assembly. for the sign in the photo, i would have gone...
  14. ISO 60in inexpensive bond paper with 3in core

bummer. that salesperson is most likely assuming you don't have to run a rod through the core. plotterpaperguys' option is actually less than half the price of 13oz banner, as you get 300ft paper vs. 150ft banner.
  15. Creative ways to make money with CNC

    cornhole. always need more cornhole.
  16. Need Help CAD Design for P51 Mustang Replica

i have already donated enough time, as have plenty on your quora history. ...or the pilot forums ...or the welding forums ...or the aircraft forums ...or the CADforums interesting that you would come to a sign forum to inquire about aviation design, but I'm sure the word has gotten around that...
  17. Need Help CAD Design for P51 Mustang Replica

I'm sure there's a reply to the same question you've posted in multiple threads. Congrats, however, as your quora history shows your desire to be paid to travel the world and get donations for a museum over the past 6 years has really come-along. ...by now i'm certain you can afford a cad...
  18. Need a lighted sign box - where to start

i'm sure that can be figured-out. Million ways to crack an egg. we're super swamped, but we stock signcomp&flexface & can usually fab a square cabinet in a jiffy. Crating&shipping would push such a thing waaaay out.
  19. SHOES

i've got REAL steel toes too, but for my "graphics/CNC" day2day stuff, & occasionally forgetting my cleats for kickball after work, I don't mind taking the risk of dropping a sheet of sintra on my plastic-toe'd foot for the guarantee of extra comfort/style. edited to add: i HAVE, however...
