  1. Everyone's Invited

Whoa whoa. Your topic says everyone is invited... Then your flyer says "No one under the age of 18 is invited". Talk about bait and switch!
  2. Suggestions Difficult Client. Just Want Opinions.

Theres other ways to avoid this in the future too. I run the print department (Also a 1 man position...) I do all the flatbed, roll to roll, and plotting. I don't deal with, or see the customer at all. I get a work order with exactly what they want on it, along with a printout of the proof the...
  3. Suggestions Difficult Client. Just Want Opinions.

Less fighting, more discussion ;) you could have re-done all the signs by now. Do your proofs not have a specs section to them? Ours lists material used (Including brand), size, quantity, what type of printer its on, if theres die-cutting, material, etc. Does the customer always need that...
  4. Need Help Any Experience with Chinese flatbed products?

Tell them you want the firmware and eeprom as a last ditch effort to fix it, before you Skip for a refund / do a charge back. If it's a one of a printer, I wouldn't install the official firmware for said printer. Odds are they're using a modified one to get around protections... This is also...
  5. Need Help Any Experience with Chinese flatbed products?

I hate to say it, but I think your out of luck. I'd ask for a refund if they're unable to fix it because they "never use it". And file a charge back on your credit card if they refuse... It's obviously defective. Chinese products are hit and miss. You can get an awesome deal that works...
  6. Need Help Any Experience with Chinese flatbed products?

    No help from the manufacturer?
  7. Need Help First Wrap

On one hand, I get where you guys are coming from. On the other, everytime my company buys a new piece of machinery... whether it's a CNC machine to cut our own aluminum, grapghtec to do our own cutting instead of outsourcing.. we're taking business from someone else. A lot of my posts, and...
  8. High Per. Vinyl Failing In Winter

3M Edge Sealer Tape 8914 Edge tape. Not sure how well it'd work against a pressure washer though... Might help with propane tankers though, never had to use it myself, but our area gets pretty warm.
  9. Need Help First Wrap

It's all competition. If they can install these for material cost, and throw away the cost of labor... Let them. Eventually he'll realize it's not worth the money, and someone else will get the business. This is why serious sign shops diversify. My company doesn't just do wraps, or signs, or...
  10. Need Help First Wrap

If he has a printer, and a plotter, and a laminator, what's wrong with him asking questions here? Obviously he's "In the business", whether it's a side business or what. If he makes decals for customers, and does his own in-house printing, what more do you want from him? the average business...
  11. Advice On Printer

Depending on the material, UV scratches pretty easy. Dibond, coro, plastics... UV is good for many things, but I wouldn't use it on what I'm assuming is a keychain? They'll get scratched really, really easy. We only have one flatbed, and it's UV... so I can't attest to eco-solv on plastics...
  12. High Per. Vinyl Failing In Winter

Slip of mind. Was thinking your window perfing the windows for some reason! Do you post heat? The company we've done propane tankers for has strict rules, but we're allowed to use a special heat gun that doesn't produce sparks. And we only do it when the propane tank is empty. Even then, it's...
  13. High Per. Vinyl Failing In Winter

It's probably not because of it, but your actually not supposed to use Windex to clean before applying. It eats glue (or so I'm told). We used to always use Windex to clean, and never had a problem... But apparently 3m will analyze a failed vinyl if your doing warranty, and deny if they find...
  14. News We're Back Online With Our New Design!

Slightly better. Now on long posts it always appears on the second to last line like above - never through the text, so it's an improvement! [Edit] I realize I probably used the worst post as an example. But it was the easiest to see the line in. Even if there's 10 words, the break line is...
  15. Need Help Any Experience with Chinese flatbed products?

No, the windows driver is pretty much a dumb driver... lets the printer handle it. Unless the chinese driver allows you to make some changes. It's not about replacing the rip you use.. it's about testing and seeing if its a setting in the rip causing your issue, or if it is hardware in your...
  16. Need Help Any Experience with Chinese flatbed products?

Can you print via windows instead of the rip software? I know some of them include spooling drivers. That may be worth a shot, it could be something to do with the rip settings. Have you tried installing it fresh on a new computer, (Changing nothing) and ran a print just to see? It shouldn't...
  17. I inherited a sign shop that I want to keep.

What kind of tutorials do you need? Applying on flat metal signs, applying cut letters, vinyl wrapping? Sounds simple, but youtube is probably your best bet. Are you applying by hand, or roller/roller table, etc? All depends on what hardware you have.

  19. News We're Back Online With Our New Design!

I like it. I originally clicked I hated it in the poll... But I've been getting used to it. So far, everything seems better. The only thing I don't like is "similar threads". For some reason, I keep thinking it's listing new posts and not similar... For instance, if I scroll down a.bit while...
  20. News We're Back Online With Our New Design!

Not sure this has been posted before or not. But a lot of times when a post is long, the line break goes through the text on mobile. Any chance on fixing it? It's a bit annoying. Also.. any chance on upping image size to above 1mb? Not sure what it was on the other platform, but for a digital...
