If your set on a tablet/laptop hybrid, The new surface pro will be out in this quarter... But if you need one by Wednesday and cant wait, the surface pro 4 should be good enough. Keep in mind your paying for portability/hybrid factor. If you can live with a laptop, you can get one thats much...
  2. Need Help Any Experience with Chinese flatbed products?

$1600? That is cheap! I'd say if you can get it working, it's worth the hassle. If you can't wait until the 4th (I wouldn't want to either!) Take it apart and look for a battery. One of the watch type batteries... If you remove that for an hour or so, and unplug the machine, it should reset...
  3. Help choosing computer??

That seems a tad overkill for what he needs. My rip computer is a office hand-me-down. 8 GB ram, Core I-5, 3470. Can be buy pre-built for under $1000, 5 years ago... probably way cheaper now. What kind of prints are you doing? I can rip 8 52" x 8 FT panels in about 4-5 minutes. A full car...
  4. Need Help Any Experience with Chinese flatbed products?

Mind if I ask how much you paid inuding shipping? Was it a lot cheaper? I'd ask the Chinese company you bought it from. This may not even be the issue... Before you pull any boards, or risk damaging the printer permanently, I'd speak to the place you bought it from. There may be a software...

  6. Need Help Any Experience with Chinese flatbed products?

A change that bad sounds like something is wrong. Are there any diagnostics your printer can print?
  7. Cut Back on Media Waste When Printing to a Take-Up Reel

I usually just hit print, and once it gets down to the take up reel I attach it... Never been a problem. If it's a full roll of printing, I might pause it when putting it on the take up just to make sure it's 100℅ straight / tight for laminating. We tend to get print 20 ft on this roll, 20 on...
  8. Printer "Erased" a color?

So, just an update. I have about 10000 15" x 2" decals to run, so I wanted to print one out to make sure it's printing / looks good. My EPS file is 27 some up, so I went into onyx... Cropped out everything but 2 decals to print, and it did the same thing. The decals are 1 color, so it's not...
  9. Pixelated view of image in Onyx 12.1 job editor

Does changing quality of the profile fix it? I find mine is always pixelated when it opens. But if you change it to say high quality (Or even low quality) print mode, then back, it fixes and looks good. I always figured it's so it doesnt take forever to show you a preview - However as others...

Anyone else having issues on the front page on mobile? Forums seem fine when I actually go-to them.. But it looks like weird constraints on chrome.mobile. also does the same thing on Firefox.
  11. Advice needed

This is a good point, in a way. Find out whats supported in your area. In my area, our techs can do/repair our graphtec in the same day. You don't want to buy a summa or grapghtec and find out you don't have any techs in your area to repair it.
  12. Need Help Roland VS-640i on EG Reflective

Got any pictures? I had the same issue with 3M EG. Of course it's not meant to be printed on... it looked really bad / lots of artifacts. I turned the ink limits down quite a bit, and it printed on it perfectly. Do you know how to create your own profiles / set ink limits? Thatd be a way to...
  13. Need Help training for very new installation tech.

I Took the beginner 3M course to become car wrap certified. It was a few hours of explaining all the products... whats good for what, and then a few hours of everyone practicing wrapping a complete car. I wrapped about 50-100 boxes before the course... so I knew 99% of what they told me. I think...

  17. Graphtec FC8000 cutting strip

I dont know about kevlar. It might dull the blade... And if your using original blades, replacing a $100 blade is more expensive than a strip ;) I've heard of people using Teflon tape Blog | Tapes & Technical Solutions - Custom Adhesive Solutions Like at the bottom of this blog. They seemed...
  18. Need Help I'm looking for someone to cut some vinyl.

If you have the space, I'd buy a cutter. IT's one of the cheapest machines you can get. If your not cutting stuff like DG, or need contour cutting, you can get a cheap one. $400 for a uscutter 50" one. But then you have to stock the vinyl and everything... but it might be cheaper on the long...
  19. Graphtec FC8000 cutting strip

Anything that hardens. I'd go for some sort of plastic epoxy, or the 3M stuff I just linked. Anything at home depot that fills/bonds to plastic should work. Theoretically, your blade will never touch it, since it's not supposed to even cut into the cutting strip. So the purpose is just to make...
  20. Graphtec FC8000 cutting strip

I believe we used something like this - 3M Super Fast Plastic Repair 04247 Not that exactly... it was just some filler we had laying around from another job. You pretty much sand the plastic below down as much as possible (Be careful not to sand it too much, or itll be uneven), fill it a bit...
