  1. Mounting onto foam board

Just finished some 22" x 35" panels. I add a 0.125" bleed, print, apply, trim. We mount prints to 3mm foam-pvc. No dents from your thumbs or handling. Corners stay nice and sharp too.
  2. Looking to get into Full Color Transfers. Which system do I choose.

Best bet is to join a dedicated t-shirt forum. They will have the exact answers you're looking for. Otherwise you can look into an OKI laser printer and laser printable "self-weed" sheets. At some point I will add this set-up. Easy sell since every office needs a printer.
  3. Paint Recommendation for Metal Gas Station Canopy

If you do the paint yourself be careful. You will be responsible for any drops/overspray that gets on surrounding vehicles/structures. And believe me the folks parking in that area will notice what you're doing.
  4. Roland TrueVis

Am I the only one that finds the rollout of the TrueVis odd? I look at it from the fact they just released the "whiz-bang" EJ-640 with all new EJ inks. Inks that are one liter, supposed to save a ton of money, and dry incredibly fast. Yet all we know about the rig is the Roland produced...
  5. Material for Storefront Graphics

A good sticky kind.:Big Laugh On a serious note if those are I.G. panels you have to be mindful of coverage if in direct sunlight. Hate to see you do the install and have the panels pop because of solar gain.
  6. Yeah ... but paint PEELS!

Call the maker of the HDU you're going to use. They will have recommended finishes. As far as being in over your head go for it. Good way to learn IMO. On more than one occasion my wife asked me WTH I was doing bidding certain jobs. Got through them, clients were happy, and I learned a...
  7. chev 2015 4x4 decal

Dealership will have them. We don't mess with anything copyrighted.
  8. 48" Logo with Inlays

    What Gino said.
  9. printable large engine turn silver

Not sure if this will help, but I use Bergen Design Fills for large format engine turn projects. They scale well and look quite good. http://www.beacongraphics.com/pdf/2006/catalog-54.pdf
  10. Run down memory road

I remember Mom taking me to the S&H Green Stamp store. All the shiny chrome appliances on glass shelves looked amazing. One of my first jobs was at a Woolworth store. Man I'm old.
  11. Roland sp540v not printing on media after 42"

Before replacing anything, physically make sure all the cables are seated. Looking at them won't cut it. If that checks out get into service mode. Then do a sensor check. If that is OK then try a linear calibration. If that fails you've likely found the culprit.
  12. How do you charge for Permit Processing

To answer the OP's question regarding multiple designs. We charge for them all. I'll go racing before I do spec work.
  13. How do you charge for Permit Processing

We charge for the permit and the time it takes us to secure it. No fixed rates because you never know what will happen. I'm curious/concerned with the next permit I have to pull. The village where the sign is going is notoriously picky. Client was informed of this going in.
  14. Heat-resistant mask for burning graphics into wood

    Powder coating tape. http://www.eastwood.com/high-temp-blue-masking-tape.html
  15. Nordic Walking

In my neighborhood there used to be tons of folks using the poles. Now nobody uses them or walks unless the weather is absolutely perfect. My dog and I are out everyday, sometimes twice. I may try it with the poles as that would really get the arms involved. Wonder if it would help my...
  16. how are speedometer faces made?

Standard practice is laser cut aluminum face which gets screen printed. Or the way we do it is take the same face and print/lam the faces. Printed on a lot of brushed silver. I was doing gauge faces for an instrument restoration shop. Learned a ton from him and got to work on a bunch of...
  17. Friends with other sign shops, why the problem

No hooks up their a**. Their decision if they choose to sell to you.
  18. Friends with other sign shops, why the problem

It's like that here too save for a couple I work with. Margins/profits are down so they feel the need to fight and claw for every last scrap.
  19. Skewed feed on 360

I don't have a latex printer, but all should work about the same in regards to material feed. It's losing steps. With my Roland the rear Paper Interrupt sensor was working intermittently. Even though I could load material and print it would drift. It needs that sensor info to trigger...
