  1. Cutting a Partial Wrap

Personally, I've switched almost entirely to Avery 1005EZ for wrap applications. Used to use IJ180-v3 but about a year ago our Fellers Rep got me to try a roll of the 1005. It was like laying down butter. Loved it. I was skeptical, because in the past I'd never had anything but major headaches...
  2. Spec Work

    That's awesome Joe!
  3. Spec Work

Yeah - I stopped doing spec work forever ago. When people say "how will I know what it will look like", I point up the street and say "You know all those businesses here in town? If their sign looks good, chances are we made it".
  4. Today's wrap

I was just REALLLY glad I didn't have to frack with that front bumper. Those are a BIATCH on Sierras....
  5. Today's wrap

They are a non-profit that raises funds for pediatric cancer research. The color shift is a trick of the light, I think. I just went out and looked at it again and I don't see it with real eyes.
  6. Today's wrap

Did this one this morning. 2 guys, 4 hours. Went nice and quick and easy :) (Not my design - client design...lol)
  7. Logo thread revisited (Catering Company)

I'm in the minority here - I say bottom right. I really don't like the oval. IMO, the oval makes it feel a little dated. If you have to go oval, bottom left.
  8. Sweet shop logo

Why not try to turn the cake into a multi-leveled carousel?
  9. A New One For Me...HELP!

There are lots of MM's here - but I'd recommend Insignia Signs.
  10. A New One For Me...HELP!

Laminate larger than decal, use a high-energy vinyl (convex, etc.)
  11. Logo critique and suggestions for font

In my opinion, when a client says the want "rock", they are asking for "grunge". Try Bleeding Cowboys (shoot me), Eroxian BT, FarCry Extended, etc. As far as the logo itself, Eh..... The "people" concept is pretty overdone, IMO. It's constructed ok - I just don't care for the elements.
  12. What kind of terms do you have with your vendors?

We could have up to 30 with all of our vendors, however I refuse to do it. I've seen too many shops get into pickles that way. The large company that I worked for when I got into this business - terms is what ended up bringing them to their knees. As pretty much a 1 man shop, cash flow isn't as...

  15. Anyone using a NITE bulk ink system with Mutoh ValueJet printers?

You already know we are in the same boat on these :)
  16. whats ya hobby

I play several instruments, including guitar, and I write quite a bit of music, but I wouldnt' call those hobbies - more like compulsory addictions :) As far as a hobby, this may make me a giant dork, but I collect comics
  17. Casmate... do you remember how to load fonts

Did you also set him up with a giant stethescope, Coke with cocaine in it, and a Victrola?
  18. Most aggressive adhesive vinyl?

I don't know about the 8000, but I just used the Arlon DPX6000 wrap vinyl and it was a nightmare. Adhesive was the most ridiculously aggressive adhesive I've ever seen on wrap vinyl. Ugh.

  20. Conflicting Advice to Newbies

The biggest reason that 90% of the time I tell newbies to go work for someone before they start out on their own isn't just so they can learn about the sign trade. The biggest reason is so that they can even decide if they LOVE the sign trade - because I'm here to tell you - if you don't love...
