  1. CRAZY banding out of nowhere...

Wouldn't that affect my nozzle checks, and start from the very beginning of a job?
  2. CRAZY banding out of nowhere...

Here's one more photo from the original job that I posted. You can see that the banding didn't appear gradually - it just "BLAM", was there....
  3. CRAZY banding out of nowhere...

OK - here is what I just printed. As you can see, in the first picture the banding is not very prevalent at all. The 2nd picture is a closeup of the blue/magenta of the block of 4 colors that would be coming out of the printer closest to the capping station. As you can see, about 4 inches in...
  4. CRAZY banding out of nowhere...

Doing a test print right now, 4"x10" blocks of CMYK, spread across the length of the print area. I'll post results shortly. This printer is REALLY starting to **** me off :(
  5. CRAZY banding out of nowhere...

No - its on several different materials. Adjusting heat upwards helps SOME but doesn't eliminate it. I will try solid colors and see what happens.
  6. CRAZY banding out of nowhere...

Anyone have any idea what would cause this type of banding? Started about 3 print jobs ago, gets worse as the job progresses. This was an 8 foot banner, and this is the last 12-14" of it. I've cleaned the encoder strip, and I'm getting a near 100% nozzle check. Mutoh 1304.
  7. Need a few installation tips for Van

I do this kind of install work for other shops all the time. 1 man, simply vinyl installs, no ladder work - $50/hr is what I charge. It's not what I'd charge an end user, but another sign shop? Absolutely.
  8. Need a few installation tips for Van

That's one way of looking at things - however a job like this should be priced based upon an actual pricing strategy, meaning that there is a suitable labor rate in there. At the very most, this entire job, including prep, shouldn't take more than 1 hour. Are you really telling me that it...

  10. Sign Industry Publications

Sign Builder is pretty good, Sign and Digial Graphics is decent, Signcraft is spectacular. SOTT is the worst POS ever, and they wanted to start CHARGING me to get it. It is, quite literally, 80 pages, and 68 of them are ads or "industry announcements" (aka, editorial ads). The 12 pages that...
  11. Need a few installation tips for Van

    1. Don't practice on a customer's vehicle. 2. You've had some good advice given here, but honestly, the BEST answer in this situation is to sub the install out to someone who does it all the time, and then GO WATCH AND LEARN from them. Laying down a 6' section straight is one of the easiest...
  12. Cordless hammer drill recommendations?

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. For me - 1/2" hole is the biggest I'll ever need to drill. I don't do installs outside of flat panel and unlit stuff - and nothing I can't reach with a ladder (I have no bucket, and no intention of getting one). Sounds like Milwaukee or DeWalt will do the...

  14. Does this reek of Scam?

Broken english + quantity order = scam Every. Single. Time.
  15. 3M IJ35c vs IJ180c

It really isn't that hard. Do yourself a simple little test. Make 2 decent sized signs. Exact same design - ideally something with heavy color saturation. Print one on cheap calendared stuff, and one on a good cast vinyl. Now, laminate HALF of each one. Apply them to the same substrate type...
  16. New Church Logo

First one looks like a tombstone with a cross on it. 2nd one isn't bad, but you need to make the idea of the cross as a lightbulb a bit more pronounced if you want people to really "get" it.
  17. Cordless hammer drill recommendations?

That Hilti looks SICK, but I'm not in the mindset of dropping $800+ on a drill set at this point. Any other recommendations that won't cost more than $300 or so?
  18. Free WrapCut 200' Roll!

Awesome! Just ordered a roll. $9 in shipping is a little steep, but hey - I get it
  19. Cordless hammer drill recommendations?

Well, I've been putting it off for a while, but I've got a couple of jobs coming up out in the sticks, and I don't feel like lugging a generator out. Gotta mount some frames to brick, then attach polymetal panels. Anyone have recommendations on a cordless hammer drill and bit sets that...
