Not a 100% sure but I believe the main difference is the thickness of the blade it holds. Your CE 5000 probably is using the Blue B09 which is a 0.9mm blade. The Red holds a 1.5mm blade.

Have you checked the head itself? Grab the entire head and see if there is movement up and down or by twisting it. (don't twist it very hard, you are just looking to see if it has any sloppyness) I am betting the head is loose. Did you try calling Graphtech support and leave a message?

If the object is layered you will find it to be a pain in the a$$ to try to use the knife tool also.

When it stands up on the first line are you clicking the mouse?

Make sure when you put your knife tool on the edge(it will stand straight up when you hit the edge) and click then drag to the next point and click again. That should take care of it and then you just grab the seperate pieces and move them around.
