  1. I hate flexi

I have not had this particular problem before with flexi, but I always have color issues with flexi. Why can't it look anything like the color I created it as (in PS or IL)???? I use Versaworks with my Roland whenever possible & have had no color issues as long as the same settings are used.
  2. Installing our first wrap. Question?

Also, biggest tip I can offer you: remove any and all traces of "Armor All" if this car came from a dealership or may possibly have been detailed. That stuff will ruin your day on a wrap install.
  3. Help with Font ID please

want to say it's called "felt" or "marker" for some reason, used to have it but don't any longer....
  4. Installing our first wrap. Question?

Here is another vote to hire an experienced installed for your first couple wraps. Not as much profit in the finished job for you for those first couple jobs, but having to reprint an entire side of a vehicle because it was installed incorrectly or something goes wrong will cost you much more...
  5. Customer asked me to get him Anniversary Invitations

You must have forgotten that you also do this, lol. The design is $XXX and the printing cost is $XXXX (local printing company price + markup). We have 3 local printers that will send me a quote back in a few minutes after we send out a request. (going with the lowest bid) We then charge for...
  6. Pressure Lines showing through prints

only us the outside rollers on static cling, that's what I do without any problems.
  7. roland sp540 question

huh? Does it cut or do anything at all or just go to sleep when you tell it to cut? I would assume you are hearing the vacuum (fans), but just cutting there is no need for it to heat up; that's for printing.
  8. Print / Cut Help

yup, spot color (CutContour) used with transparency (gradient). In this case I open the art (w/o contour) in PS, flatten & save as JPEG, place back in ILL & save a flattened version to print from. Sucks to have to do, but works 100%. never really noticed a quality loss either.
  9. ruler file

    ???
  10. Customer: "Where do you get your vinyl from?"

Make a small sign about your consultation fees and hang it in the area you will be discussing the banner with him. After he talks for a few minutes, tell him about your fees (pointing to sign) and that with a purchase you waive those fees, and which way does he want to go about concluding this...
  11. 4over Extreme Short Run Line (ESR)

If it is anything like the standard Xerox DC's, etc most printing shops (and Kinkos) have these days, the quality is excellent and the price is right. We have been considering leasing our own if demand went up a little bit.
  12. Dodge Challenger RT Stripes

    Restylers Choice http://www.restylerschoice.com/
  13. Suburban Truck Wrap

Very nice, most wraps are not one seamless image if you haven't noticed. The hood & the rear are almost always something different or some "fudge factor" area is utilized to bridge that section.
  14. Whats the best way to ask for..

I try to have them bring by their other current marketing material, so that their signs, etc are all running along the same "theme" and match each other. Hopefully they are already happy with the material they are currently using to promote their business & that gives us a theme / color scheme...
  15. Wrap vinyl for striping ?

never had success with small graphics out of wrap material, they always seem to retract & peel around the edges, I would assume a stripe would be worse, plus stretching the material during installation...
  16. Recreating art from a photo ???

It's a simple enough job, but as stated above it would be best to re-do the entire car graphic if you cannot be supplied with the original art. Then get a total width height measurement & stroke width measurement & redraw it with the pen tool, should be simple to trace to within tolerance. The...
  17. SP540 Head height

yeah, go into the menu on the macine, then adjust head height then move the lever, then hit ok. (or something like that)
  18. One More Retro-themed Design

very nice work, although I personally do not care for motion blur, ever.
  19. Cathode Ray Tube Monitors

I cannot get accurate colors out of an LCD monitor, I don't see how you can either, they just dont hit the same spectrums as close as the CRTs do. For most things in the sign business it doesn't matter (like cutting vinyl) but for discriminating customers in the print business you need an...
  20. Removable Sign Suggestions . . .

What is wrong with magnets for this job? Sounds like a perfect application since they come in 2' wide rolls usually. That or velcro, that's how the semi trailers are getting wrapped now; a large velcro frame.
