  1. cut contours rather tears the vinyl!!

After the new blade, did you re-adjust your settings so that the pressure went back down to the starting point? Did you blow out the blade holder with air? How easily does the blade move in the holder "by hand"? Last time I had this problem I believe I added a drop or two of 3-in-1 oil to the...
  2. Wrapping an Armadillo...

Hideous though it is; it's their logo: http://www.kingsfordinc.com/ Yes, I cringed the moment I first saw it, but they use it on everything "as-is".
  3. Wrapping an Armadillo...

We had a customer call up and ask if we could wrap an armadillo for them... a Ford Armadillo that is. For the vehicle: It's the new competition for the Sprinter. It's a lot cheaper initially and parts are cheaper to buy also (Ford vs Mercedes), so expect to run across a few in the future as...

  7. Carriage seperation

Dirty encoder strip or eye. Clean, flip or replace the encoder strip. Do NOT clean it with roland cleaning chemical or full strength alcohol. Also, clean the track the carriages ride on very well. Carriages have to come apart the "disconnect" is that it's reading a different location then...
  8. How to feed out media for cutting?

Just make sure you load your media straight, previous sheet cut be darned. It's not really THAT hard is it?
  9. Sewing a banner Hem

We tape anything up to 4x8, oversize get sewn just for strength reasons. Never had any problem with taped banners, even ones a few years old (used for annual events). There IS a difference in different manufacturers' hem tape quality though.
  10. why are some files so heavily masked?

That is an importing / converting issue between applications, created by the software companies to try to keep you from using another manufacuter's product. If it's too clunky / problematic to transition hopefully you'll stick with what you're using already. Or at least that's how I see it. I...
  11. Old 40's speedometer

    X2 on Blue Highway.
  12. Sp540 cariage seperated?

Your linear encoder strip is dirty or the eye that reads it is dirty. Are you also getting prints that "move" a bit or look like stairsteps around the edges? Once, I also had a really dirty track that the carriage rides in/on & had to get some 3-in-1 oil in there to get those grooves/wheels...
  13. Banner patching

We patch them all the time, just print the patches on regular gloss vinyl (assuming gloss banners), and use the same profile you used when you printed the banners - almost unnoticeable. Especially when the banners are viewed from 10' away. This comes in real handy when the charity event you...
  14. Spot vs. process colors with transparency

If the spot color in question (giving you grief) is the CutContour, them the only reliable solution I have found is the flatten into a raster with photoshop & place the contour over that in Illustrator. (in a new file obviously)

  18. Big cut job

We just completed an entire fleet of vehicles with about the same amount of vinyl (4 different colors of cut vinyl 48x50 rolls). yes, I also agree about the fresh blade, as we ran into this right before the project on the initial test vehicle. A new blade & no more problems with the entire job!
  19. Adobe PhotoShop Large Document Format

Can you flatten the PSB and save it as a JPEG? Then place into Illustrator and put the vectors over it. I have also found that most PSBs can usually be reduced to a lower resolution for printing. What is it at currently?
  20. Thinking about selling my equipment

If you are selling it in pieces, keep us informed. We could really use our own laminator.
