  1. Bloody Wheel Marks

I've had it too...normally at the start of a run and on 13oz banner. It'll go away after the first foot or so, so I assume it's either because the material that sat on top of the heater got too hot, or it wasn't hot enough yet when it started running through. Does yours randomly do it in the...
  2. Cheap Customers

I have done well at sending these people to other shops over the years. They weren't worth the hassle. There's a guy around the corner now who got into business by calling current existing shops main customers, and just saying "tell me their price and I'll beat it"...but he'll also screw you...
  3. Which Line Do I Follow? Police Car Graphics

Got the drivers side done. Looks like the best "line" was the black and white part on the doors at the bottom, so I went with that line. The contour of the door was a little more than I'd like, but I think it worked out. I think it'd have looked mega off if I'd have gone with the other one.
  4. Which Line Do I Follow? Police Car Graphics

I usually go with the "longest line on the vehicle" theory, but it seems that the top line isn't consistent, and neither is the bottom. Is this just an eyeball job? The design here kind of follows the bottom of the car.
  5. Trump + Sign = TASTELESS

They approved it, it looks good...it's just politics. If they want to see ugly...come look at all the yard signs plastered all over my city. I'd take this any day over the crap I see around here.
  6. Markdown On Signs For Reselling?

I give all the people who want me to wholesale for them a smokin deal. Normally when someone offers me 10% or even 20%, it's rarely worth my time for that much dealing with the customer, and if I do use them, it's very minimal. I normally always find someone that does it for less that's more...
  7. Bucket truck rates

I had a guy call last week wanting me to quote him a job that's about 30 ft in the air that would require a bucket truck. He told me that the prices from the other guys were crazy high. I told him that there's no way he can expect someone to show up and do a job 30 ft in the air for a cheap...
  8. A friend's/customer's experience with buying a sign franchise.

Unfortunately...still waaaaay ahead on the cost of learning that in college.
  9. Just riding my bike man, nothing to see here....

I feel like it should be some insurance company commercial.
  10. Need help with deciding on a logo

    Looks like the PJD logo
  11. portable marquee signs?

Well, I found someone a few years ago who did it, and they were higher priced than Sam's Club at my "wholesale" price. I asked them to tell me why theirs is better than the one I can get at Sam's Club for less money, because I have to sell it to the customer and give them a reason. She said...
  12. How hard is it to take my money?

What I've seemed to notice around our small town is that there used to be lots of businesses out there, some were hacks, some knew there stuff. Seems like lately...most of the hacks didn't survive the "economic stuff" and all that's left are the good guys. Since they're good, they are in high...
  13. Interaction I just had with a tire kicker.

Personally, I have yet to ever have one of these that's 10 minutes, even in the discussion unless I throw out a big number. The actual cut time, yes, 10 minutes to make the job, but they'll want to see it 10 different ways, and it's always a pain in the butt. Just makes me nuts and trying to...
  14. Interaction I just had with a tire kicker.

Customer: I need a window sticker. Me: Ok? Is it for a business, or what is it for? Customer: Can you make me a sticker that says "doesn't play well with others"? Me: Well, I can, but I have a $75 minimum (normally $50, but I jack it up a little for "car projects"), and I'm assuming you...
  15. Has anyone seen this american eagle vector?

I actually remembered that I could upload one to google and try to match it right after I posted this. Didn't take long to find a raster, but a little digging and I found the vector. Sorry, totally spaced on being able to do that.
  16. Has anyone seen this american eagle vector?

I have a guy using this for some stuff, and Eric (Vector Doc) thought it probably existed somewhere where I could purchase it. Has anyone seen it around?
  17. Unattended Customer Pickup?

Something like this may be my best bet, but I'm still at the mercy of having to be here then, and that's not always possible. Hiring a receptionist is pointless because we've tried that, and anyone you get normally has a kid and they are always getting sick, and then they can't be here etc. I...
  18. Unattended Customer Pickup?

That might actually be a good idea. Not sure what kind of courier service we have around here, but I may check into it. It'd have to be someone with a truck, but to have a middle man who my customer doesn't want to tell their life story to, would really help. Then the only problem is when...
  19. Age vs. Communication Methods

I completely and utterly hate phone calls. I generally deal with the same people on a regular basis in my business, or we've at least talked before. With me, I'm a one man shop, and I've got another small business that takes some of my time on certain weeks of the year. If someone just emails...
  20. Unattended Customer Pickup?

I have operated as a one man shop for 10 years, and BY FAR my biggest issue, is making sure that I am here whenever a customer wants to pick something up. I've thought about paying someone to be here when I'm not, but then that's just depending on one other person, and from what every single...
