  1. Drum Roll, Please.... My New Logo, Thanks to Sign Amigo

It makes me crazy that he can crank this stuff out all day long. Love his work. I use him multiple times a week and everything is a home run.
  2. For your listening pleasure

That trombone dude's got the BLUES! He's good!
  3. Yard Signs, Is this out of line?

Ya know...I live in a small town, and I was driving up and down the streets looking all over the lawns covered in political signs, wind farm signs, annexation signs, anti wind farm signs, anti annexation signs, and I was hacked off because only two of those people came to me even looking for...
  4. Jfx200

Over at the CET booth they had one that would run 4X8's for $60,000 I thought. Don't know a ton about it because I'm not seriously in the market for one, but that's the price they threw down.
  5. ISA recap?

My wife and I were already down there for the week, and we were going to have a "transition day" between hotels on Wednesday and hit the show floor and look at stuff for a few hours that day. Sadly, I didn't realize the floor didn't open till Thursday, and $15 for parking, and 10 minutes later...
  6. Just because you're an Artist doesn't mean you're a Sign Maker

I agree with this even in the digital world. I've had multiple "designers" that I work with send me files and they always have a bleed, they didn't convert fonts to outlines, or they didn't scale it properly, or they don't know how to use a clipping mask, etc. When I get their files, it's a...
  7. sign expo orlando

    I. CAN. NOT. WAIT. for Orlando. After the cursed line of idiotic customers I've had today, I'm about to lock the door and head down two days early. Where did all my "normal" customers go!? I've gotta get out of a downtown area.
  8. So Just how fast IS your Plotter...Really!

I have a Mimaki which isn't really known for it's amazing accuracy, but it's worked good for me for 8 years so far. If I'm cutting something that was printed, I usually cut it at 10 or less. If it's just a solid color, I still won't do much above 20.
  9. sign expo orlando

The wife and I were going to go down this week for our 10th anniversary, but we decided to make it a "business trip" and wait till next week and go for the expo. We're gonna hit Disney Sun-Wed then check out the expo Thursday probably. I got tickets from Advantage, but I didn't really look...
  10. I'm officially retireing from doing race car lettering!!!!

My cousin and my uncle both race. I don't have a ton of trouble doing their stuff because it's always the same stuff each year, so once it's in the computer, it's no big deal. However, I do tell them the deal is that they can't tell anyone where they got it, and they pay well above normal...
  11. Printable Mesh Material for Grandstand wrapping?

And it's not just a standard mesh? We did an entire baseball field like 180' wide and 10' tall with just regular mesh. It works great as a windscreen setup for them.
  12. Please advise on designer fees

Most around here are $75/hr. That being said...I just kinda guess what it'll cost to design it, and build it into my price. Normally people around here freak out and ask why they should have to pay for the design. I learned quickly they don't say boo if you just build it in. It's all about...
  13. Back in Business! well almost, Now what do I buy?

If I were you, I'd go to a sign expo and check out what's new. There is one in Orlando in like two weeks. Nothing better than being able to see all kinds of different stuff before you buy it.
  14. Portable Generator Question.

The Honda Whisper (I think it's called) is a sweet generator. So quiet it's unreal. I don't own one but have a friend that owns two and have used them for scenarios where we were near people, and they were quiet enough it wasn't an issue at all.
  15. Printing grey....

Ha, I was just searching this same thing. My JV3 printed them green, now my JV33 prints them purple. I'm just trying different profiles at this point. I'm printing a grey gradient on Oracal 3651 right now, using a 3621 Matte profile. This is working out nice. Whose to say what I end up with...
  16. UPS boycott

Unions do no one any good anymore. I don't know how they used to be as I'm only 30, but when my dad was in one, he didn't ever feel like it was fair to the employer for the stuff the union tried to pull. I would NEVER stop using UPS. They get my crap where it needs to be, on time. I think...
  17. Signs2Trade = AMAZING

I've always had fancy tape. The valentines tape made the UPS man ask me if my mom was sending me stuff everyday or something.
  18. Selling a printer, wondering how much to ask?

I've never owned a Roland, but everything you described sounded about like my Mimaki JV3. If I remember right, I got $3,500 out of it, so I'd say you are in the ballpark as long as it's in running shape and not a piece of garbage that has been neglected.
  19. Signs2Trade = AMAZING

Look, I've worked with Keith since back in the I-45 signs times...and they were amazing then. What he's got going now, I couldn't run my shop without. The quality, speed, and customer service doesn't exist anywhere else in our industry. Without going into a lot of detail, I had an insane...
  20. Business Cards?

I thought something looked fishy about that post. And seriously...did the search function break again? This topic is beat to BEYOND DEATH on a weekly basis.
